Ok. Ok. Many thoughts. As I thought, watching s1 and s5 back to back is weird on account of how different they are. The only reason I started s1 fully in the first place was because I needed to watch moreeee and having just 1 or 2 episodes a day with my brother didn't cut it. Anyway. The differences are astounding. Here's a list:
- Hawkeye flirting with EVERYONE vs him not,,flirting at all,,,once BJ is there,,,,??? Much to think about.
- Very Hawkeye centric episodes, which, as a Hawkeyegirl I appreciate but at the same time I do love the later seasons focus on everyone. Like even in Hawkeye episodes, you do get time for the rest of characters to at least appear and talk so I love that very much.
- Margaret's writing:/// now I know, it was an all male writing room and it was the early 70s. I'm not sure what changed with the later seasons but I'm THANKFUL cause she went from being kinda flat and Hawkeye constantly flirting with her to actually having a personality. And I love her<3<3
Overall those are the main points which I kinda dislike about s1 and then completely change on the other seasons. Like so far s5 has been absolutely perfect so yeah, you know. Ok now onto the review.
- 1x14 - love story: this episode would have been a nothing episode (to me) had it not been for the crazy unexpected trapphawk LOL. Now I've already mentioned, I'm into the """""shipping""""" side of things lmao and yes I see the things when they are there. Ummm what was that last scene with them in the bed about. What was that look Hawk gave Trapper after saying "yeah Leo Tolstoi swings both ways" (or something like that). Like ok. Ok. I won't get all fanfictiony here but you know. I get it. I do. SO. HAWKEYE INDEX: 8/10 very much Hawkeye all around all the time. BISEXUALITY INDEX: 9.5/10 now it's gotta be high just for the things I mentioned before. KLINGER INDEX: 0/10 this is what I like the least about s1, bareeeely any Klinger. ANTI-WAR INDEX: 4/10 yeah not at all, some points on account of Henry disregarding army regulations but whatever. GENDER INDEX: 7/10 we got a Margaret Gender Moment when Radar called her man so that's a win in my book. GENERAL LIKABILITY: 8/10 it was a whatever episode but the nurse was nice and again, the trapphawk.....huh. GOOD TELEVISION: 8/10 eh, there were some interesting shots, but that's about it. Actually I just thought about this, this was written by Laurence...something, who also wrote yankee doodle doctor and there's some very slight trapphawk there so. um. idk. I AM NORMAL. Overall rating: 6.3.
