First Bog

Welp this is my first blog on here! This place seems very nice. I am of that age range that was like, just getting internet access and growing up when was started to be phased out. I believe i was about 6 when it properly really lost to Facebook? So there was no real chance that I myself would have ever experienced it, but I still grew up with the sort of remnants of the gilded age of the internet. I have always had a natural drawn to old web aesthetics and stuff like that, so a project like this is super cool!

Recent social media sites have been, disappointing to say honestly. It is sad to see the current state of the web. The internet in its current state is, largely 6 big websites that people just bounce back and forth depending on how they are feeling. They are all very similar too. I recently got access to Bluesky, as Twitter (or X if you are a loser) is going to shit. However, my excitement quickly wore off. The site is boring. It is a dumbed down twitter, plain and simple. There is nothing special about it. The color scheme, the format of the app, hell, even the way you interact with posts. I like Tumblr, but honestly, it really is just a more fandom oriented Twitter. I stay off of Facebook and Instagram for the most part, and Reddit scares me, so the web has kinda sucked!

That being said, I have been branching out to some different, more unique websites that have been making me have a little more faith in the internet not being just a sea of slop. Last.fm and Rate my Music, as a music fan, have been very fun to play and toy around with. I would not rlly say they are social media, but they scratch that kind of itch that a lot of other social media sites don't, which is nice. Plus, it lets me nerd out about my fave artists HARD and i love that. And then i was led to find this lil site! Im going to be honest, I don't know whether or not this social media will actually keep my attention any, but there seems to be plenty to explore and a fun lil community, so i will certainly try to get the most out of this space!
