Omg here I am, finally getting around to making a blog about the coolest mf show over a year later. I started this blog like a month after the show then kinda forgot about it, but I feel like sharing :)
In September 2023 I was in a town a couple of hours from home with a friend and I saw this poster for 'numetal mayhem', a show in the town we were in, and noticed it said Anders Colsefni would be playing Slipknot's first album, Mate. Feed. Kill. Repeat. IN FULL. So I pointed it out to my friend like 'oh my god look' and she was like 'wait thats so cool' but it said it was just in the town like 3h from us ON A SCHOOL NIGHT so we were like damn. BUT there was a website, and i went to it, and i found out that THERE WAS A TOUR AND THEY WERE PERFORMING WAY CLOSER ON A FRIDAY NIGHT so we were like YIPPEEE and got tickets. :D
The show was in October 2023 and featured Pistonfist, Kaosis, Anders, and Waylon Reavis (Mushroomhead, A Killers Confession). Sin Soto were also meant to play but their vocalist was sick :(
Pistonfist played first and were super cool!! They're an Aussie metal band who r super underrated so I recommend u check them out. I didnt record any of their set but they're on Spotify!! Their bassist had also played for Anders and Waylon for like the whole tour (so had been doing 3 sets every night) so props to him too!
Kaosis were second, and honestly, their stage performance was REALLY COOL. They had dancers and lasers and all sorts and the vocalist was great at hyping up the crowd. I didn't rly enjoy their music that much, im sure some ppl do but it wasn't for me. They also projected the (very explicit and gruesome) lyrics to their songs on the screen behind them for their entire set which was kinda odd. But the performance was cool!
Then it was ANDERS!!! Soooo COOL!!!!!! The fact that ppl kinda struggle to find ways to listen to this album at all (except youtube) and i was lucky enough to see it LIVE, PERFORMED BY ITS ORIGINAL VOCALIST is INSANE to me. Andd its an album by such a famous band :0 He played with a band he'd created called 'The Feeders' who were really really good, they were all masked and anders had the classic tape face thing going on too. Part way thru, he spoke about Paul and Joey and mentioned that the venue we were in (Valhalla) was the last place Joey played before he passed away?? I had no idea, i don't think many ppl knew. So he said it was really special for him as they'd been close friends. The set itself, the musical performance and vocals were ARGH amazing. The funky jazz bits? Wonderful. The screams? the "ONLY ONE OF US WALKS AWAY!!!"'s? earth SHATTERING.
Last up was Waylon Reavis playing A Killers Confession and then Mushroomhead. Mushroomhead have never toured in NZ!! He was REALLY good. I haven't listened to much mushroomhead but omg it was so GOOD!!! I mainly recognised QWERTY. Waylon seems like a super cool chill dude and he was wearing a jumpsuit that said 'SAVE A KID, KILL A PEDOPHILE' on the back which was very rad. 10/10 even tho by then i was really really tired (i had been there since like 7.30 (i think) and it was past 12 and the bass vibrations felt like they were pulverising my internal organs).
Here's my YT video of all the clips I filmed :D
So yeah this was one of the greatest nights of my life i guess!! Sry it took me liek 14 months to blog about it XD
