I came out years ago for the first time, went back in the closet over a year later, and just came back out last August. So, from 19-22 I was heavily on the closet, almost 4 fucking years. The first time, everyone had a problem with it and I was disowned by almost my entire family, the older brother in question lashed out at my mom when she told him. Now he's dating a trans woman, and my mom told her about me now being Ares, and she told him and he was accepting of it.
Of course, it took someone else entirely several years later for it to be okay that im trans. He was totally fine with her being trans, but back then it wasn't enough for him to be okay with me being like this. I understand that people can change and grow, but the fact that I wasn't enough to convince him and a romantic interest was speaks volumes, and I don't think I'll forgive him for that. He said some horrible things when my mom told him, and I'm not about to forget that.
