In Search of the Perfect Game

So as the title states, I am in search of the perfect game. Now this may sound ludicrous since there shouldn't be such a thing with the amount of genre of games out there, but the term "perfect" means many things. Let me explain; in my opinion the perfect game should be replayable on many occasions, with different outcomes at end game, the perfect game should have lots of content that isn't redundant. The perfect game should have an engaging and thought out story line that hooks the player for hours. The game can be a series, such as Borderlands, Halo, Fallout, etc. But what makes the perfect game stand out from the others? Well, this is what I am searching for. Something that makes me say at the end, "WOW this game was absolutely amazing in every way!". A game that I can personally recommend to anyone.

I have played MANY games on many different platforms in my lifetime, ranging from original DOS, NES, Playstation, xBox, etc, and only a few games have I found to be considered "amazingly good". The Mario series, the Halo series, the Doom series, the Fallout series, Even the Elder Scrolls, but they don't equal "perfect". Yes, they are absolutely amazing games, and I replay them quite often in my free time, but after replaying them multiple times, they lose that feeling of amazing game play. You find all the best loot, the best shortcuts, the best weapons, the hidden Easter eggs, but then what? There's nothing left to do.

In recent years, I have looked more towards Indie games, such as No Man's Sky with the amazingly beautiful planets, the seamless space to planet entry, the zero loading screens. The amount of exploration seems never ending, but the story line lacks so much. And then there is Cyberpunk 2077. Yes the game had its massive faults at launch, but the developers listened to their audience and fixed a mass majority of them. The story was exciting and fresh, the game play as buggy as it is was entertaining, but the game as a whole, lacked content. Countless hours of running around doing the same thing over and over again became a bore. Now lets look at the Fallout series. Bethesda is known for their massive maps, tons of content, expandable story lines, multiple endings, and of course, their bugs. The insane amount of bugs. But if you look past the bugs, what do you get? An amazingly fun single player game with so much to discover and collect. I have always been a fan of Bethesda's games. I played the hell out of Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic and never got bored of that game. Granted it was  a single player RPG but who cares? It had so much exploration that everything that was wrong with it was ignored by my adolescent mind.

So what is it that I am looking for? I am looking for a game with a multitude of exploration, content, exciting and engaging stories, maybe multiplayer. And with everyone's help, I may find what I am looking for. So feel free to comment on this blog telling me what games you found to be considered "perfect" in your opinion. I will then play them and make comments.
