★Quick summary★ (Content Warning, graphic Violence)
Two incredibly smart students, Victor and Eli, started as best friends. Through an unfortunate experiment to become something superhuman, the two separate and become mortal enemies. Victor ends up in prison for 10 years, breaks out, and begins hunting for Eli. Meanwhile, Eli has started a horrible quest to kill other people with abilities just like him. The book follows along the two, and helps explore the intricacies of “heroism” vs “villainy”, and revenge.

I absolutely adored this book. The plotline is just the right level of confusing and fast paced, and the story draws you in. Its difficult to stop reading! I do wish that the story had more of a focus on the personal interactions between Victor and Eli. i feel as though their relationship to each other would have been more dynamic if they had more personal conversations with each other. One of the last scenes and one of the very first scenes were of my personal favorites specifically because of their direct dialogue and interaction with each other. Their distaste for the other was so palpable that you could feel the animosity radiating off of the page and directly into your senses, and it is invigorating.
★Overall Rating _/10★
8/10 overall, I did knock a couple points off because of my earlier mentions. The focus shifting to other characters slightly took away from the main characters. Still one of my favorite books iv'e read, and i continue to think about this book after reading it a couple of years ago.
