the only meaningfull difference between the two on a fundamental level is that osX is made to remove support from programs often considered essential by users, or power users anyway, while Windows has a whole-ass mess of random features permanently taped and/or hot-glued to it that Microsoft refuses to cut. Such as fax support. Many companies don't even realize it comes eith the system and pay for comercial solutions which are rarely if ever as good as what microsoft gives out for free with every unmodified copy of windows. Hate to dodge answering the actual question but picking out what is needed gives linux systems an edge in the fundamentals. Even if program support is still less than adequate and fragmentation only works to make it more difficult than needed.
