i used to listen to scenecore/hyperpop but i dont anymore and i only liked scenecore/hyperpop bc i had been listening to the same songs for 3 years and it was different to what i had listened to before
THIS IS NOT A HATE BLOG IF YOU ENJOY SCENECORE/HYPERPOP I DO NOT CARE, I AM JUST SAYING WHY I DONT LIKE IT
i will be referring to scenecore/hyperpop as just hyperpop from this moment on as its the same thing but i am mostly talking about the scenecore side of it (or the artists/songs dubbed as "scenecore" in the hyperpop genre)
my problems with the genre
my first issue with the genre is i can rarely tell the artists apart from one another, D3R and ketse4ki sound the exact same, 6arelyhuman is the most unique artist imo (i will talk about him more later) and most of the music is remixed instrumentals (sometimes even stolen) but then claimed it as an "original song" (that it isnt). if i made a song and then found out someone took the instrumental and did a "cover" with shitty autotune id be pissed.
honestly the lyrics are kinda problematic, im fine with sexual lyrics or lyrics about drugs, what i have an issue with is lyrics like "hey scene slut im still cutting tonight thats why my wrists are so sore" feel like they are romanticising the idea of sh in a way and when i hear people saying "hey maybe the lyric 'youre my everything please r*pe me' is really fucked up" theres always comments saying "thats just scenecore/hyperpop" OK BUT MAYBE THATS BAD?? like maybe you should try and change that culture when hyperpop is mostly listened to by teens to young adults (mainly the tiktok demographic). i am not saying you cant write about these subjects im just saying you should probably do it with some grace if that makes any sense.
i honestly hate the term "scenecore" when it comes to music, i dont understand how hyperpop (esp the "scenecore" hyperpop) got associated with scene? and then got called "scene music" as it sounds nothing like scene music and scene never had anything like hyperpop, overall i dont have an issue with the scenecore aesthetic (apart from the name and people calling it scene) but the term being used for music just makes me ask why.

i used to be a 6arelyhuman fan, i will admit, i even followed him on twitter at one point but i have issues with how he acts mainly, i dont care for his music or anything but the way he would act always rubbed me the wrong way. "sassy scene" was never a new genre, it was just hyperpop again even being referred to as "scenecore" rather then "sassy scene". the way 6arelyhuman acted was like he was this mega popular superstar when he isnt, yes he is popular, but not to the extent he thinks he is. i just have an issue with how he acts personally, this isnt all that important.
my final issue is how the cover images for songs will often be just random people, chances are without permission (copyright infringement again) and it just feels weird imo, especially with the song "pretty little scene slut"
i am not saying original scene music didnt have these issues (mostly) i am just saying its more prevalent in hyperpop

dude iam not even a hater type of person (escerpt for totalitarsm, isl@mic religion (ah, excuse me, i've got a HUGE POiNT and common sense here), biased people and things like scenecore), although scenecore has total garbage topics often, i can't even hear some of this trash for a minute, it's all about the things that are very wrong to even think of. these people need mental therapy, alright?
just open soundcloud and seach for the 'scenecore' hashtag. What the hell is this?? this is not music. cuzz i promise the half (or even more) of it (on SCloud) is just.. G0r4. from different artists. so i have a feeling that some scenecore fans rly romantisize self-harm and assaults? PLZZZZZ.... stop.
also i love SUICIDAL-IDOL cuz they seem like the most chill from the new scene, does they identify as Nu Scene?? or (i hope not) scenecore?? IDOL is the Goat! facts. S-IDOL never said something bad, in fact! and their artworks are chill and cool. oh yeah, copyright infridgement, that's a debate.. i dunno, as far as nobody talks about inappropriate things in their songs i wudn't be mad about copyright, but i get ur point. it depends ig?
also nah, i don't respect barelyh, cuz of one song romantisizing JTKiller. and a few more. i deleted their songs.

As a scencore fan who has been listening this genre for 2 years I can completely agree with your statements. Of course there are good scenecore songs without mentioning h0es, drvgs, SH, r4pe, mvrder snd svicide, but they are very rare nowdays. Have you heard an artist named Rebzyyx? This song is from the artist I mentioned bellow (Rebzyyx) and if you check it's lyrics it doesn't mention any h03s, r4pe, SH, mvrder or svicide. It honestly depends with the artist and their type of songs.
Let me give you another example to prove you my point. Have you heard of an artist named h3artcrush? He has some quite popular songs (from tik tok most likely) 'freshman boyfriend', 'travel the world', 'Avra' and a lot more I can't remember at the moment. Most of his songs include all of those topics and there is ONE song he has released and I can admit it's lyrics are completely disgusting. (I will give the link of that song lyrics, but I must warn you. It's about a 15 YEAR OLD having a weird and disgusting relationship WITH A WHOLE 4SS ADULT who is spoiling him.)

Don't ask how I found that song I didn't even know what shott4c0n meant until I heard this song and searched about it myself. This song has to be one of THE WORST scenecore songs I've ever heard in my life. It is problematic at so many levels, fvck all the other topics, can we talk about this song for a minute? This scenecore song is 'unique' in a very BAD way. It shows bad influence on the scenecore community and it makes everyone think that it's genre is all about r4pe, SH, svicide, mvrder, ho3s and drugs. People even say that it's fans are toxic, but that is NOT true for everyone. I am a fan of it but I'm not toxic or disrespectful, I respect every individuals opinion about this genre and any other topic.
As a rebzyyx fan myself (i know like all his songs and some songs where he is featured) most of his songs are very concerning LOL like have you even listened to 'you don't love me' or 'pain forever' ?? The lyrics are crazy
I know that not all of his songs mention topics like sh but a lot of them are still very concerning like in 'i don't remember' there is no gore rlly but the text is still pretty concerning yk? Then there is 'it's all about you' which is pretty wholesome for the most part I guess?

As a hyperpop/scenecore fan I agree with most of your points, and with the points you had on 6arely I see where your coming from but I feel like his whole deal was "fake it till you make it" and act like your famous until you are. Like country music artist sing about driving drunk through corn fields with a pretty girl on their farm after 17 hours of hard labor and then go sleep in their apartment in down town New York City yknow? Rappers write lines about hating cops and killing people and toting guns and wearing diore while working night shifts at Taco Bell and going home to their wives and kids. Musicians lie, musicians act big until they are.
Also, 6arely posted videos of him at work and stuff and live streamed in his crappy appartment, dude's just a scene-dressing guy with a dream imo.
but the takes on the lyrics are based, that one scenecore kiss me again remix makes me SO uncomfy
yeah i can see where youre coming from i just dont like 6arelyhuman (idek why he just really annoys me for no reason??) but i can see hes just a guy who likes making music

i'm so confused on why its called scenecore imo hyperpop and scenecore sound the same? and you're right, its impossible to tell the difference between artists...
so hyperpop is the genre that scenecore falls under but scenecore is a select few hyperpop artists if that makes any sense at all

Honestly the sassy scene part never made sense. If I wrote an Ed sheeran pop song and called it Edmetal would it be classed as a new genre and be integrated with other metal genres? No, duh.

Also his fans act like hes so amazing and relatable but his humour was so painful I could barely watch a stream of his for 4 minutes. He just like jumps around and sings and people act like he's one of the all time great comedians or smth
