You get up at 5:15am for work. You look out the window, it's dark and there's a white mask of snow covering everything in sight. As well as that, it's drizzling with rain and you're getting to that point of the third lockdown where sometimes you just wish you could close the curtains and get back into bed and hope that when you wake up, it's nice and sunny and Glastonbury hasn't been cancelled.
I had The Coral's latest release Faceless Angel on loop today which...listening to the lyrics made me realise how appropriate this song was with lyrics like "hitchhikes through the rain" and "footsteps through the snow." I love how folksy this song is and I don't know why but could definitely picture it being on a Peaky Blinders soundtrack. Picture Tommy Shelby in one of his moody montages before he's about to cause some utter carnage.
When I mentioned in my previous entry about creatives laying dormant during the pandemic, I think it's appropriate to say that The Coral are one of them. Last week it was announced on Twitter that they were releasing a DOUBLE ALBUM - You know you've had a productive lockdown when you're announcing things like that. Have they just set the bar for everyone else? Should we expect more double albums from other artists seeing as we've been deprived of something to look forward to for so long!? I bloody hope so!
Coral Island is set to be released in April 2021 so keep your ears peeled!
