Spooky Day

I haven't dressed up for Halloween in YEARS because I wasn't allowed to, and though I don't like the idea of celebrating fear and darkness, I always hated being the only one without a costume. As I have said before, seeing people in costume in public is my favorite thing. I've never done that myself before... until yesterday!

My coworkers peer pressured me into coming into work with at least something. So I went thrifting. The search for the perfect costume lasted only twenty minutes. I found a cool red vest and my fate was sealed.

I went to work as Marty Mcfly. Everyone else had cool costumes too! There was a Captain Jack Sparrow, a James Sullivan (from Monsters Inc.), a pickle, etc. Basically, we were vibing. I only regret trying to contour my face to make it look masculine because I didn't blend it well and the placement was super awkward. But I did get a lot of compliments and even the people who didn't recognize the costume said I look cute.

ALSO, my mom surprisingly loved it too. She did notice the awkward makeup, but she said that I still pulled the whole look off really well. She even told me that she would have dressed as Gandalf, but didn't put a lot of thought into it. That's a huge surprise because she used to be against costumes.

Back to the Future has a very special place in my heart, as the movies inspired me to write a time travel comedy novel of my own. I'm not really a movie fan, but the BTTF series slaps. I could make a whole separate post about how amazing it is and how much it inspired me. In short, I'm so stoked that I got to be my favorite character form my favorite movie for my first Halloween. The only sad thing besides the makeup fail is how I can't do the same costume next year!
