I watched six different anime simultaneously: Hinamatsuri, Denpa Onna to Seishun Otoko, Seton Academy, BanG Dream!, Popotan, and When Supernatural Battles Become Commonplace (InoBato). I watched the first three anime on my big monitor, and I watched the last three anime on my laptop screen.
Right in the first episode, Popotan and Hinamatsuri had nudity, with Popotan’s nudity being more explicit. I closed out of Popotan quickly. It feels too NSFW for me, but then after doing some research, I have watched anime that equally as NSFW. On the other hand, Hinamatsuri does have funny moments and some action-packed moments involving psychic powers, and that’s very cool.
Of all the anime I watched this session, BanG Dream! caught my attention the least. This reminded me of the time I watched six anime at the same time but couldn’t pay much attention to Love Live due to how slow-paced it felt compared to the other anime I’m watching.
Like Hinamatsuri, Seton Academy and InoBato are bright and fast-paced comedy anime with action, with Seton Academy having more fanservice. If you remember My Gym Partner is a Monkey, imagine this, but way more anime. I loved the chuunibyou battles from Chuunibyou demo Koi ga Shitai! And it looks like InoBato is up my alley with battles like this as well as lots of comedic expressions.
And then we get to Denpa Onna to Seishun Otoko. What makes this anime stand out from the others is Erio Touwa. She is one of my all-time favorite characters. While Erio doesn’t get much screen time in Episode 1, it’s clear that the nostalgia from watching it in 2015 has definitely influenced my decision. I absolutely love light blue haired anime girls, and Erio is gorgeous. Sure, these other anime I watched are appealing and have cute characters, but none could compete with Erio Touwa. It was a close race, but…
Results of today’s match: Denpa Onna to Seishun Otoko wins.
The power of waifus I’m familiar with gave Denpa Onna to Seishun Otoko the edge it needed over the other anime I watched. The takeaway might be this: I think I am better off just rewatching anime with characters I know and love a lot. But then again, I was disappointed with Kiniro Mosaic: Thank You, despite having two characters I put in my favorites. I guess it didn’t hold up as well as I remembered. Or maybe it’s that light blue haired anime girls stand out more than blonde anime girls.
