decided i should make a dedicated listening log! im gonna be making more as i listen to stuff that i think is noteworthy
first up on the docket... The Mirror, My Weapon, I Love You by Euclid C Finder!
Hot DAMN this album was fantastic all the way through!
This is some of the best Mathcore I've heard in recent times, and that's saying something considering the last year or so has heralded an enormous Mathcore revival on scales we haven't seen before since maybe the 2000s. I initially got introduced to this band through their single Corpse Party, which I described to my friends as "Gridlink and Melt Banana having a baby in the Mathcore Ward". Odd descriptor but I think it holds up XD. The album as a whole sounds like a disco party from hell in the best way possible. The vocals in particular stand out to me, because while Mathcore basically has a Patented Scream (and Growls) at this point, Euclid C Finder! doesn't stick to conventions and has a noticeably raspy vocal style I haven't heard replicated. I can definitely hear a little? bit? of Loss (Me And Him Call It Us) in here through the vocals but only barely.
This ROCKED. Definitely in my top 10 albums of the year.
