Historically we saw science and philosophy as basically the same thing, i mean hell, "natural philosophy" is literally the progenitor to modern science. There's a lot of arguments as to why we should or shouldn't seperate philosophy (and by extension morality) from science.
I'd say the biggest problem with seperating them is definitely the big "doing things without thinking about the repercussions are" because as our society evolves scientifically and culturally, we now have the ability to act in a somewhat morally correct way, without truly compromising our ability to advance.
On the other hand, science is a more physical thing than philosophy. While philosophy are the more existential questions. So how do we truly balance these things? Well as usual I'm not a professor on the matter or anything so my expertise and opinion is limited to my worldview, so I can't answer the question. But i can certainly say it's worth thinking about.
As usual I'd love to hear your thoughts on the matter.
