Along with his younger brother, I discovered David Sylvian - "The Most Prettiest Man In The World!" said the press. He's as pretty as a flower. Contrary to his brother, who has stronger masculine features, David is more feminine. Dont know why i had to say that, thats just what i thought lol
Don't know how, but i became more obsessed with David than I did with Steve. I have like 1000+ pins of this guy in my Japan board meanwhile Steve's only at 500+ pins lol. Anyways, i found out that hes kinda a terrible person but thats okay cus hes a pretty boy :33
Im sure he wouldnt like this shrine and the way hes seen nowadays with younger fans like me lol but i highly doubt hed even bother seeing this. Hes barely online i believe.
Mr. Sylvian, if u see this, im so sorry (。T ω T。)
Who dis??
On the 23d of February 1958, Beckenham, England, David Alan Batt was born. In the beginning of his career, he was the vocalist for the band Japan, formed in the late 1970s in Catford, South London. They were not happy with the environment growing up, so they used music as an escapism. David's love for music started when an older sister bought some records.
Sylvo would take inspirations from bands/artists such as David Bowie, Marc Bolan and the New York Dolls, even taking the stage name David Sylvian from Sylvian Sylvain, guitarist of the New York Dolls. In 1978, Japan would release two studio albums - Adolescent Sex and Obscure Alternatives. They began growing more creatively with their third album Quiet Life, released in 1979.
However, the band faced creative clashes. David stated that he was open to any ideas but none managed to speak out. Along with creative clashes, there were also personal clashes between bassist Mick Karn and Sylvo abt Mick's girlfriend moving in with David. The band would later dissolve after their last performance on 16 December 1982 in Nagoya, Japan. Sylvo was also not happy abt the fame he was getting from Japan.
After their breakup, David went to on create his own music, sometimes collaborating with other artists. While im not a big fan of his solo music as much as Japan's, I understand his decision to stand alone. Its good to see him have his own creative freedom with his music. I admire his honesty and straight-forwardness in his interviews. He was much happier with life after the breakup from Japan, contrary to his emo ass image.
Many anime fans are probably familiar with him. Yep!! He's credited for making "For The Love of Life" for 'Monster'!!
(one of the first images ive seen of David, i dont remember which was specifically my first but god he is beautiful)
fun fact:
- He spent like $3,000+ on the red leather jacket he wore on the Quiet Life album cover. I believe he gave it to Steve since i saw pics of him wearing it lol.
also look at this cool sylvo fanart i found on deviantart --> sylvo fanart :3 (not mine)
