Opinion Piece: Harry Potter Movies

Dear "Life as a Teenager" viewers,

Welcome to Opinion Piece Wednesday featuring the topic of Harry Potter movies.

As a big reader, I always follow the motto that books are better than movies. However, there are some times when I have been proven wrong. In the case of Harry Potter movies, I have been MAJORLY proven wrong.

The Harry Potter movie series is filled with such great detail and additional scenes that the book could never master reaching the expectations that have been set. With this being said, most of you have watched Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone (the first movie) and Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets (the second movie). So, you can develop an opinion about which movie is the best one.

For me, I easily side with the second movie. I'm not saying I hate the first movie because I really don't. The first movie is definitely one of the better movies in the series considering it is the kick-off to the amazing work of art. What I am saying is that I chose the second movie as the best one because I think it's the first movie where we can finally see Harry Potter use his magic. In the first movie, he only uses some of it and is not as confident in himself to fully make the spells. But as we progress into the second movie we see Harry become comfortable with who he is as a wizard and his friends around him. It's truly a movie with evident character growth. Also, it is a start to the iconic - and surprising - love story between Ginny and Harry. I mean he was her prince charming in this movie...was he not? So, I feel that this movie is the best because it is the turning point throughout the series where we begin to see every detail change to fit into one of the best storylines in entertainment history.

Do you think you could change my mind? Try your best and let me know what Harry Potter movie is YOUR favorite.

Until next time,

Viola Black

xoxo

while i love the films (seriously love them) the books are much better imo, especially as the series goes on. they left out some things in the earlier films that turned out to be important later on so they just get crammed in awkwardly with no explanation(like siriuses mirror, for example)
in terms of aesthetic though, the films are perfect. its just so... magical.
my favourite is either the prisoner of azkaban or the half blood prince, and out of the books my favourite is either the goblet or fire or the deathly hallows
