I get that. I see that a lot on here as well. Me being older than the average user on here. I get that it is just part of the "Please pay attention to me and my struggle because i wanna be important in the world but do not know how to do anything of the sort that is real, meaningful and has intention behind itclub, to gain said acceptance so now I have mental health issues about it.

What I happen to NOT like very much is how people who have serious mental health issues talk about those issues, specifically. This newer breed just uses "mental health" as a one-word-fits-all personality types kind of word. Nobody suffers from depression anymore. Its just called "mental health." Its not bi-polar disease its "mental health." Using the word mental health is not a verb. Its not even a real FK'n noun. Its a phrase to describe the category of an issue. Not the issue itself.

I can go on a rant what/why I think of this as a whole but I don't. It's a waste of time, energy and my own resources. Someone uses mental health wrong when describing it I tend to already write them off as being full of shit. People make all sorts of claims nowadays saying it is semantics, the meaning of words/phrases in language, when really it is rhetoric, which is using witty language to make it sound real. Rhetoric doesn't require facts to be rhetoric but if it is semantics it does. Just something to think about...

On a side note. I had an amazing therapist. Young, female, redhead, fitness nut, gorgeous, smart and would break things down in a way that I could understand and feel safe being transparent with her. She is, um, was 32. She died suddenly in May and it took their office a month to let me know that. She started having health problems after she got the Covid vaccine. So yeah, beware... Do your FK'n research more than a google search. Do not use social media for real research. TikTok, Twitter, all of it, are not real factual databases with honest takes. You can find that stuff there. I am just saying its an uphill battle to find them. Social media is mostly there for entertainment and communication at its core. Now social media is an information machine that displays just as much false data displayed as facts as real facts being displayed as real facts. This comes from ALL different sources. Some mainstream, some just individuals.

In social media, real facts are now considered subjective opinions/beliefs/feelings. These 3 things are not attributes to the real fact gathering process. Just some things connected to this subject that could be heavily spiderwebbed into its own conversation.

beautifully said. mental health is such an ill defined word in this current age. during the pandemic, people became more “aware” of it, but at the cost of legitimacy. there’s an outstanding amount of young people that self diagnose, and being young myself, i have seen the damage this has caused. i get brushed off when i discuss my symptoms with my doctor because of other people my age who tend to exaggerate. i get the age old explanation of “your hormones are going crazy right now” more than i can count on both hands. and most importantly, when i bring up a possible diagnosis that i want my doctor to look into, i’m told that many people my age have “diagnosed” themselves with certain disorders, so i cannot be evaluated by my own volition. overall, it’s extremely frustrating to be a teenager struggling with problems that have been defined as “grown up.” i think the reason why these problems are attributed to adults more is because adults tend to have more self awareness that younger people lack.

Thank you for saying that. What you say here is just as important if not more. Now, I should clarify that if people are using the phrase because they have a laundry list of shit wrong with them, as I do, and to save time you just say “mental health.” I feel that is alright as long as one isn’t saying “mental health” as the answer to the question and the end of the conversation. No… If you say you have mental health issues, be prepared to explain one’s self, granted you do not have to but if you want them to actually accept you or at the very least trust what you are saying, be ready to break that down for people. Mental Health struggles doesn’t mean people get a pass and have cake with their dinner. I won’t accept that. Yeah, self-diagnose can be both helpful and hurtful. You are 100% on that. What I have learned at 45-years-old and being disabled with a laundry list of both health and mental health issues (which I am open to chat about lol) is…

I have to maneuver around the red tape that is the medical profession in my state. I have to pick my battles. I have to come prepared. Prepared as in, you are about to debate with someone that has more years in medical school than most of us have on Google. They are gonna debate anything and everything you and/or I say. You have to show them where they are wrong. The only way to do that is gaining knowledgeable facts on that specific subject. I have been through this with medical people. It is maddening…

IDK where you are, your age, all that stuff, but if your state allows medical marijuana for under 18, I’d look into it. It has helped me so much. I am not talking about smoking dope behind the lockers at school I am talking about using oils, edibles as a medicine in real doses and regulated like a medicine to help a person coherently function better. Granted if one gets a little giggly what is the difference when you go the dentist and they give you laughing gas? Granted most offices do not use it anymore, but the point of view still exists.

Also, as far articulating your words for or against those that have more knowledge or education over you. Learn how to use ChatGPT to make your thoughts and words sound more clear. As a writer I do this myself if I am stuck on a POV where I cannot get the phrasing right, but using AI to write for you should be done as a starting point and then you go in and ad your voice, tone to it. It is great if you have troubles writing important emails, letters, even whole essays. If you use it honestly it isn’t cheating.

i unfortunately live in a state where all marijuana consumption is illegal. ease of access is a huge problem here, and as a result, fentanyl lacings are commonplace. even if it were to be legal, it wouldn’t be my first, or even my last resort. i know the solution to my issues lies inside of me, i am the source of my suffering and i can be the savior. i want to hail my achievements as my own instead of attributing them to an outside source. call me selfish, but i am the independent type.

coming from a writer as well, i prefer articulating my own words. i love reading a piece of my writing and knowing that it’s uniquely mine. i am not completely turned off to the idea of AI, however. i use it to correct things such as spelling and grammar, but i’m reserved when it comes to changes in wording. i am young and like a sponge. i absorb new writing tactics from the books i read and the conversations i have. flaws leave space for growth, and i know that if i become complacent with perfection, my growth will be stagnant.

Fentanyl has now made most recreational drugs 100x more dangerous than it used to be. Even something, sort of basic, but still dangerous on its own, say cocaine, is now being laced with fentanyl. That means, literally one line of coke can kill someone, anyone, pro or beginner, it doesn’t matter, almost instantly. I have to tell one of my family members that lives in DC, where cocaine and radical politics run rampart in a city that is literally 10 miles wide, don’t do coke anymore. Not that they are a drug addict but when you work for the gov’t and you are always Down Town partying it up, people are gonna want coke. It’s just the culture but now something as basic and simple as a grown adult that makes over 100k+ a year cannot do a line of coke, which is acceptable, without heavy anxiety that one could OD right there on the spot. It happens… It is happening.

Your assumption on being selfish isn’t a bad thing, not at all… I am not a person of faith. I actually speak quite low on all forms of religion but it has its place. It does have “some” good, “some” being subjective and not definitive, which is my whole issue with that to begin with lol. However, faith/religion can help in areas like this if that is the road you want to take. Even other things like working out, yoga, stuff like that can also be a great mental healer. I know many depressed people that are now obsessed with the gym lol. Nothing wrong with taking negative or even positive energies and using them for other areas of your life and well-being…

With writing I am the same way. I use it like you said here but also will use it to both paraphrase my own stuff, or give me a starting to point to work from. My writings are very long winded. I am about to release 4 new blogs today, 3 of them I will be posting here for a grand total of over 10,000 words in 6 days. I basically wrote all this over 2 days but it took me another 4 days of edits, revisions, research, paraphrasing and of course, I am always pulled in several directions where my writing has to take a backseat.

From my youth, I didn’t have nearly as much to be responsible for and now as a grown up I have too much to be responsible for. That very may be one of the core issues to my mental health issues. I catch myself all the time now. IDK if this will help you at all but I live out in the woods. I will pop on the audiobook I am currently listening to, grab my stick and head out for a walk, usually 2-2.5 miles. Clears my head while also helping me move around to help with the physical issues I suffer from. IDK if any of that would help you or not but it is always worth a shot. Nature is a nice medicine.

i plan to move to a forested area a few hours away from my hometown when i graduate! i currently live in a suburban area in the desert, and i have observed that developers aren’t friendly to the natural environment. planting grass takes a huge toll on the soil and the water, yet so many people continue to do so. i am absolutely enamored with forests…the crisp air, the abundance of bugs, the nighttime sounds of a living, breathing environment, it sounds like an idea living situation. i’d love to walk outside of my house and be absorbed by nature, it’s my dream.

by quinninhell; ; Report

Hey that is great man. Baby steps. As long as you are moving. It doesn't matter if you are a snail or a turtle or a jack rabbit. If you are moving you are moving. The speed is irrelevant. Another thing that jumped at me on your response here is frequence-sound therapy. Check out youtube and search for Binaural beats. You will get a mixed bag but if it just sounds like blank, tones of sounds you are on the right track. if it sounds like something at a yoga studio its BS.

by Alan Smithee; ; Report

thank you! i usually listen to binural beats when i need help calming down about something. i had surgery earlier this year and fell asleep with a frequency that’s supposed to ease nerves. i woke up the next morning and had no problems with the surgery. very grateful for that

Here is a link to my Longplay Playlist. Its all this sort of stuff. I wanted to control more of what I wanted rather than what YT Says... Like I said there is a lot of FAKE sound therapy out there being coined as Binaural beats. This PL is always growing whenever people ask me about it I just wanted to have something tangible for myself and others that are serious trying this out. how would you, be able to tell what disorders someone does or doesnt have?
not even psychologist are able to tell what disorders someone has or doesnt have (faking etc) without multiple in person visitations. it is possible and cot uncommon for people to have many alters with DID or OSDD

poly fragmentation is a recognized condition with did where some individuals have 100+ altars so 17 altars doesnt mean they are faking it, https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3880957/ it almost impossible to tell online, especially if its only text your reading.

Wanted to clarify too, please dont be so enthusiastic to share your diagnosis online about anything. Its very much so personal information and putting it out there could make you more vulnerable to literally anything that could worsen it. In the most respectful way nobody needs to hear your life story. You dont owe anyone anything. And very often, nobody even asks for that information. And when someone does you shouldn't be stupid enough to give it to them because you dont know what they're going to do with that. A lot of people on the internet get too comfortable listing off their problems and its actually concerning

who said I'm faking LMFAO I'm literally unable to get a diagnosis because of the fact I'm One, a Black female, and two, my parents don't believe in mental illness so maybe you should check yourself. YOU are one of the problems in the world constantly calling others "fake" because of your narrow minded view on DID/OSDD, if you do your research you'll know that you are in fact wrong and it's Ableist to fakeclaim because the other reason they might be faking a disorder is because of another disorder called Munchausen's syndrome OR they may be confusing DID/OSDD symptoms for something else, I confused My BPD for nothing more than just being some overly emotional teen.

Maybe actually do some fucking research before you start shitting out some Bullshit nonsense and of course there are some DID/OSDD resources for you <3

@darlene ??? bro, it's admittedly undiagnosed, therefore it isn't right to walk around claiming to even have it until they are actually diagnosed. it's as simple as that. you can read all of the articles you want and shit, but it doesn't count or is anywhere near a real diagnosis from a real - life professional. It is also a grown adult. It could get a actual diagnosis if it really wanted to. Plus, anyone is allowed to have their say or opinion on anything. It's the internet, and it's openly putting out things for people to see . If you genuinely believe it's okay to tell everyone you have a disorder you aren't diagnosed with professionally without expecting different opinions from people, you need help. You think everyone is gonna keep their opinions to themselves or give a fuck what you call them on the internet???? Please be fr rn.

by Graves; ; Report

you probably aren't gonna see this due to going inactive but i really hope you know that nobody needed to know your personal information like that. Nobody asked im afraid

by Izzy; ; Report

you know what, no i'm not going to let some randos on the internet tell me what i do and do not have, I know what i have, I know i have DID, Why?? my doctor suspected it, my therapist suspected it, but "you said you can't get diagnosed therefore you shouldn't claim to have it" that's like saying someone who didnt get diagnosed with the flu and has the flu symptoms shouldn't claim to have the flu

not to mention i'm least likely to be seen by an actual mental health professional because fucking again, I'm born female and I'm black (Sourced from this site: https://www.hopkinsmedicine.org/health/wellness-and-prevention/mental-health-among-african-american-women#:~:text=And%2C%20compared%20to%20their%20Caucasian,seeking%20care%20from%20psychiatric%20providers.) it says right here "compared to their Caucasian counterparts, African American women are only half as likely to seek help. Access to mental health care with cultural sensitivity is often listed as a consideration for minority women seeking care from psychiatric providers." So if you're White and/or a Cisgender Man do not come fucking talking to me about how "easy it is" to get a diagnosis so you all can literally shut the fuck up thank you.
