What is with the dumpster fire that is the modeling world right now?!
I feel like everyone has been asking this exact question with the iconic return of the VS Angel runway shows. Yet I keep seeing so many people complaining that it "isn't what it used to be" which, in every case, they're right. For years people have been preaching inclusivity, which I'm all for, but modeling should not be inclusive. Women put themselves through extreme regimens to stay thin and healthy. Yes, the standards are extreme. However, it is SUPPOSED to be a nearly unattainable goal! The girls should be thin, they need to be thin and non-curvy so the audience can truly see what the garment is going to look like. They are walking hangers, to put it bluntly.
The next issue we're seeing is the walk! Models all had personalities dripping off them like diamonds in their walks before the 2010s. Now? We allow TikTok influencers to stumble down the catwalk like toddlers. Even the nepo babies had their walks before all this! It just depressing to see a world I once dreamed about falling apart at the seams like a poorly made pair of sweatpants.
We should be seeing inclusivity in commercial modeling! NOT in runway modeling.
