I don't really see the appeal of furry conventions/meetups anymore

Title kinda says it all. I don't really "get" the appeal of furry conventions, at least anymore. I went to FWA last year and while I enjoyed it I thought it was gonna be super awesome but it kinda wasn't, it wasn't TERRIBLE mind you, just not really what I expected. It's probably more enjoyable if you have friends or something but I'm a larry loner so that's a big issue there for me, and I'm not exactly the kinda person to strike up a convo with a random person (but granted if someone approaches me I'll 100% say hi). At least with something like a gaming or anime convention there's a lot of stuff to do even if you're by yourself, but since furry conventions are mainly a social thing I'm just sitting alone playing on my PSP (granted that's still fun but I could be having more fun doing something else). :P

plus i've been feeling super jaded about the furry fandom anyway for a few months so kinda don't wanna spend a few days surrounded by a bunch of people who i know i'm not gonna really like being around

Honestly I get what you mean. Seems like a lot of it depends on the specific con too, cause a lot of them have very different community cultures from each other. I'm from Canada, so usually I go to Furnal Equinox. My first year I went completely alone and ended up meeting some of my best friends there. FE has a lot of events, panels, and a game room that are basically tailored to help socially awkward people meet and engage with each other. Like don't get me wrong, cons are a lot of work, if they're not for you that's totally okay! But don't turn yourself off of them completely, it could just be you havent found the one for you ^^

Mind you, I haven’t been to a furry convention before, but I would agree that it’s an event that seems better with a large group of friends. In fact, most furry con videos (vlogs) I’ve watched are with 4+ people.
I have friends that love attending conventions, but don’t stay for too long. Many of them actually go more so to meet voice actors or to get certain merch, but they aren’t all there for the convention experience.
I’ve always wanted to attend a furry con, but I never went because a) I can’t afford any part of a fur suit right now and b) I don’t know any other furries to travel with and c) it’s expensive, all of it
