Working Title "The Trip"(written in a different club)

The sun had set across the desert in a red hue that had almost took a sinister tone as Howard drove through the deserted roads. The only car he had seen had passed him about 15 miles back in a flash of yellow light. It had become a speck in the distance with in seconds before disappearing in the horizon. The noise it had made as it had passed gad startled Howard almost causing him to run off the road if he wasn’t used to these type of drivers in the city where he was heading back to.

As a amateur photographer he received an email a few days ago by an anonymous fan of his. He couldn’t believe that he had many since he only posted online once in a blue moon at first he thought it was a hoax. The email sure sounded like one mysterious lights in the sky above empty roads in the literal middle of nowhere, sounded like the start of any badly written alien encounter he had seen over the years in the tabloids, and the internet. What caught his eye was that the person on the other end had promised a reward for the picture. $5000 wasn’t much of a reward for this type of thing but it had caught his eyes.

Howard had found himself recently in a substantial amount of debt after the divorce of his second wife. It wasn’t the divorce that caused the debt, after the divorce he had turned to alcohol and smoking which caused his recent money problems. Even with his day job where he worked in an accounting firm the money wasn’t enough. Every night he would go to the same hole in the wall dive bar close to his house and drink himself into a stupor until he would drag himself back home after being cut off for the night. Every night he’ll crawl back home into his chair in the living room and pass out. He couldn’t remember the last time he slept in his own bed maybe since the last fight him and his ex had.

The photography came in a few months later when he was cleaning out his attic full of old stuff when he came across an box of camera equipment from his college years. After dusting them off and giving the camera a few tests runs he started a instagram account. At first he would post his college pictures which got zero attention. The next thing he tired was taking pictures on his day off of just random objects that he found scattered around his house.
