I do not get people’s attachments to characters

Okay, to be honest, I don’t get people’s extreme attachments to characters at all. ESPECIALLY on Twitter. 

What the fuck do you mean you know a character personally?? You’re not the creator of that character and they’re not real??

It’s not that I dislike characters, I like some, Deadpool, nearly every character from Undertale and Ultrakill, and so on, but I do not understand being obsessed?? I don’t understand how people get attached to a character so much that people try marrying them or trying to ‘bring them into this universe’ and vice versa.

I’m not a grandpa or anything but it’s just weird to me.

It’s most prevalent with headcanons, it’s very, very annoying, I’ll admit. People get on each other’s asses for headcanoning a character with something that another disagrees with and it’s so fucking absurd to me. Me when people have different interpretations than I do??

And same with gatekeeping or claiming that you’re the number one fan of something, probably the most annoying people I’ve met, honestly.

I’ve heard neurodivergence be used as an excuse but I Honestly Do Not Give A Damn. Neurodivergence isn’t an excuse to be a dick, el em ay oh. You can claim to be a number one fan of something but quit shitting on other people that really like the same thing a lot also, y’know??
