TAPERS - 3

ARCHIVE OF SUMMARY 3

SUMMARY 3, CHAPTER 3.
TAPERS (thrompd.hinchy.co/tapers/)

Hello! My name is Peter/Dave/Hoonis, this is a summary of Chapter 3 of Tony Domenico's "Tapers". Tapers has strong themes such as, IMPLIED Pedophilia, Abduction, Strong themes, Murder, and the ending is disturbing.

The narrator looks around the store, the clerk takes note of this and asks if he’s buying another Taper, and he very much is.

His reason for buying another Taper would be that "It's not raining today. That old waterproof taper is overkill, now." After this he winked at the clerk for absolutely no reason at all, thinking that he was cool with the clerk guy and put him on his respected people list. The clerk takes this weird because he never really took their “relationship” like that.

The narrator starts looking around for some Tapers, before asking if they had any Tapers similar to the waterproof one that he bought the other day that wasn’t waterproof, the clerk just rolls his eyes.

The scene switches to Care trying to close the window with all her might, whenever she tries to open or close it, it never closes or opens. Her mother always did it with ease, but unfortunately for Care, it was extremely cold that night.

Care goes throughout the night gazing at the sky, reminiscing of memories about her mother being rude to her on Christmas, all memories mostly not very fond to think about. She observes how the walls had been painted black, remembering when they were painted green.

The scene switches once more to Marvin, he figures that he isn’t going home that night and sits on the grass. He thinks that rest may be overdue, but it was always the answer. He already had his day planned out, he pulled a piece of paper out of his pocket that read, “School.”

He thinks about how he was at the school for longer then he should have been, but the anger from the argument earlier that day started to invade his thoughts. He thought about how he couldn’t even stand up to the man and that was a threat to him, let alone his own fears which were showing, that was also a threat to him.

He continued to read off the paper, it said “Walk home, Lay down, Sleep.”, he knew none of those things were happening currently due to his circumstances. He wanted to do something, and he knew this was the perfect place, and the perfect time, and he thought about how perfect he would get away with whatever he was doing.

This struck his action as disgusting, absurd even, he thought that at least. He told himself to stop thinking entirely, his thoughts scared him more than his actions and his actions weren’t very pretty. He told himself to shut up and to stop it, he kept thinking about how it was perfect.

He struggled with these thoughts the whole time he had walked there, it was impossible to stop these thoughts no matter how hard he tried. Nothing could stop his thoughts from rampaging his mind, trying to do something about it was just like trying to lift the sun with your tongue as it described.

He had visions of men, little tiny men staring into his thoughts, yearning and craving for his secrets. This would not be the first time they were fed.

Marvin didn’t want that to happen anymore, he considered his choices, he could leave right there, right then, or go on with his business, either way to him this was his last time setting foot outside, leaving his home was just a habit and not a need.
Silence filled his thoughts, this meant it was his turn to act.
He acted upon climbing in one of the open windows of the house he was at, he noted how cold it seemed. He looked around him, every window had been open and he was concerned, had someone been there before him? He wondered.
He observed how the whole house was a mess, especially the kitchen. He noted how the kitchen was really something, half open fridge, pots and pans scattered everywhere along with paper as well. Broken light bulbs strung upon the floor, as well as a baseball bat right next to him with glass surrounding it, both of these had a table with a lamp that had been knocked over.
He saw a man walking by the house, now just from this quick, observant glance he could tell that this was no regular midnight-stroll, and that this was pure hunger, and greed. He knew how hungry people looked, with cameras and paper.
The man had a video camera.
Marvin quickly moved away from the window, as he knew feeding the hungry was bad. Half a minute passed before he heard the knocking. Marvin then goes into a paranoia episode as he continues to hear the knocking, believing the man with the camera is after him. He counted his favorite numbers, he even had a list of them, all of the numbers were even and not odd, odd numbers to him were evil.
He hoped that it would just all end already, the knocking continued to grow louder, and louder. The door was breaking, and breaking, and breaking. The knocks sped up, and continued to speed up.
Marvin ran up the stairs and away from the door, tripping several times as he went up the stairs. He collapsed on the floor, but he didn’t stop there. The noise continued throughout the house as the door to him was breaking.
He saw one room that was visible to him, he entered the room to see a collection of little dolls. He approached the bed, knowing that it wasn’t empty.
He reached for the sleeping girl's hand, held it tight, and the knocking stopped, everything stopped.
He cried, and now it was time to go home.

The story starts off with our narrator and the Tapers clerk discussing how it wasn’t raining that evening, the narrator wants to make sure the clerk understands that it wasn’t raining, to which the clerk obviously does understand.

She thinks that if the walls hadn’t been painted black, that her life would be normal, her life would be better. She thought that everyone would be happy.

end.
