on listening to full albums

so, i've been listening to quite a bit of full albums 'cause I've been using my portable CD player more often, and it got me thinking about the entire experience of listening to a full album. just a few months ago, i, like, barely listened to full albums in their entirety? but now. the world has opened to me [light-hearted]

i'm mainly talking about Hissing Fauna, Are You The Destroyer? by of Montreal, 'cause like. holy shit. if you only listen to those individual songs or the album on shuffle you are depriving yourself of like half of the experience. like What?!

the album feels like they wrote a 40 minute song and just. split it up, kind of? ok, well, not necessarily, but it flows so well and feels so cohesive that it's so clear that each song was written and produced with every other in mind. this is one of the best examples of this, i think, but feel free to let me know of any others that are in a similar vein. please listen to the album. it's really good. -> https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XV4msjRe1wk

another thing is the order of songs in a different one... specifically. Twin Fantasy OR How To Leave Town (both by Car Seat Headrest). with twin fantasy i feel like that doesn't reeeally count because. it's a concept album. but how to leave town is technically not one so i can talk about it lol

How To Leave Town is my favorite album. just in general. in all of music. and it's a concept album in my heart :-) i'm a really big fan of how it just throws you on that emotional rollercoaster of dealing with the end and aftermath of a relationship. the juxtaposition... THE JUXTAPOSITION! (this also happens with twin fantasy. god damn you will toledo for putting the saddest song on the album RIGHT AFTER one that is giddy and manic and in love. god damn you... <sheds a tear>)

i have more thoughts, but i can't really verbalize them right now. you should probably expect another blog post about HTLT soon, though!

that's really all I have to say. for this one, my recommendation lies solely with HF,AYTD?. yeaup! definitely a banger
