nahh I wouldn't actually label them as trying to rep BPD, cuz that just implies that's what BPD individuals are like/are stereotyped as

Nono of course, and i dont think that people intentionally wrap bpd into it. Its moreso the romanticization of obsession (which can come with the struggle of having a favorite person) and its unhealthy on both sides to thing thats a good thing. If u get what i mean. NO WORRIES AT ALL!! The only mental disorder id MAYBE link yanderes with (atleast what I had in mind with an old au) is psychopathy/sociopathy? Again it's rlly hard to actually diagnose bcs they're fr just their own species at this point but it's in the sense that they're careless/apathetic/egotistical etc etc that play into the fact they'd commit crime more
