Stories: A Weekend of ME

Dear "Life as a Teenager" viewers,

Similar to many other teens, we all have to try and find some kind of balance in our lives. Whether it's between sports and school or family and friends. Finding a balance is a healthy part of ensuring we don't get stressed out. Sometimes though, we forget to find that balance and become overworked and stressed and have to take some time to decompress. This is what happened to me this past weekend.

Friday after school I laid in bed completely drained of energy because of the crazy week I had. Currently, I am failing a class and trying to manage school and work while also feeling like my life is slipping away from me as I try - and fail - to balance everything. However, by recognizing this situation I became one step closer to fixing things. That Friday night I made sure to go to sleep early so I was well rested for the weekend ahead of me.

On Saturday morning I woke up at a reasonable hour (11 AM is TOTALLY reasonable lol)... Anyway...when I woke up I made myself a healthy smoothie and decided to take a trip to spirit Halloween. This current week is my school's homecoming week which means LOTS AND LOTS of spirit days. So, I was on the hunt to get a costume for decades day. Tagging along with me was my boyfriend (yes he came willingly. I promise!). We ended up getting a 60s theme jumpsuit costume for myself which I plan to absolutely rock and wear to school tomorrow. After I was done with my shopping adventure I decided to go home and spend some time with my family. Now you may think that spending time with family is a quaint activity, but you haven't met MY family. There is nothing quite about it, but if I'm being honest that's the best part. Having so many people living in one house calls for absolute chaos which means there is never a dull moment.

The following day (Sunday) I woke up early, worked out, got my homework done, and then I went out with a friend and got sushi. I haven't seen this friend of mine since June so we decided to head down to our nearest beach and set out a blanket to talk about our lives. Honestly, out of my entire week that was probably the best part. Being able to talk to someone you are close to about things going on in your life AND feeling like you are being heard is just absolutely amazing. I hope that each and every one of you is able to experience this.

Now, I am lying on the couch typing this out to you lovely people. While this may not have been the story entry you might've been looking for, I hope you learn from me. I hope you know that it's okay to take time for yourself. I hope you know that no one is perfect and we all mistakes, but those mistakes do not define us, it is how we learn from those mistakes that define who we are. We are all human. Live your life to your full extent with no regrets and always remember to smile!

Until next time,

Viola Black

xoxo
