📖Powers & Souls + Why They’re in the Manor📖

POWERS

Brooches are the physical manifestations of someone’s soul, when you die you turn to ash. All that’s left is your brooch. Because of this graveyards focus on displaying the deceased’s brooch. The colors of the brooch is randomized, some theorize that that color is based on mental state.

Everyone in this world has a special ability that needs to be awakened by some dramatic or significant event in their life. Some folks die before they find out what the power is but most get to discover that when they’re like in their 30s. But some people just come out of the womb with their power activated. 

Two of my characters are like this, born with vampiric traits: 

Cecil: needs to drink blood atleast once every two weeks before he starts getting headaches and makes him more susceptible to mood swings. 

Amèlie: energy vampire, keeps it a secret though ooh drama.. 

The powers can be literally anything(not too OP now tho come on.) sometimes they’re not powers they can be more like a curse. Like they don’t even do anything good they just hold some people back 😭

THE MANOR

In the story all of the characters arrive at the manor upon invite by the previous owner of the manor. It’s called Norium Manor shout out to random name generators I’ll call it N.M. for short. before the story even happens N.M has had 3 cycles or “waves” I guess of different occupants. 

Original owner of the manor, James Norium, was low key nuts. His power gave him the ability to possess a plot of land if he put his Broach in a hidden part of his estate. He decided in order to make his afterlife entertaining he invited people to cause drama, 12 total. He specifically searched for people with interesting backgrounds. He appointed a new person as ‘head of the house’ and that person kept the tradition going up to When the story takes place. 

The head of the house is supposed to make a choice: keep the cycle going for freedom or to keep everyone’s souls in N.M to end it. To continue the cycle the head must find people to replace the previous wave… to find and select people the head can put in a request and letters will spontaneously be sent out(seeing as the manor is possessed by J. Norium he takes care of making sure the people arrive however the kinds of people is up to the head. if the head has no ideas J.N will gather a list of potential people and they can choose)Some roles of the people chosen are mandatory: 1 house head, 3 maids/butlers & a gardener. 

If residents of the manor try leaving estate grounds they’ll be turned into an example😟
