Nicola Traveling Around the Demons' World (＠＾◡＾)

A memorable manga I read recently was Nicola Travelling Around the Demons' World:

Super short and cute manga! It was such a heartwarming read and I can definitely see myself rereading this in the future as a little pick me up :)) The manga follows Nicola and Simon as they travel around the demon world featuring the shenanigans they get into, the chapters are almost episodic in that every chapter is a new adventure with some recurring characters but there is a plot near the end of the story.

The art style is one of my favourite things, it reminded me of a fairytale and really set the atmosphere of the manga for me, I especially loved the designs of the popé and krov.

Simon is a peddler who collects and sells things they get along the way. He just wants to keep out of trouble and do his job, but still prioritises Nicola and you can tell he really loves her :,)

More spoiler-y stuff:

One of my favourite characters is Bruno the popé swordsman (Ch. 9 is his first appearance), I really liked his first appearance where despite laughing at Nicola he ended up helping her, and his later appearances where he joined Nicola and helped her in trying to find her mother. One of my favourite scenes in the manga is when after finding the village Nicola's mother founded to help other human in the demon world and seeing how everyone got to experience her mother's warmth, Nicola cries saying that she wanted to be the one to be with her and how much she misses her mother, and we can see Bruno in the background crying with/for her as Simon comforts her.

My favourite thing about the manga is Nicola and Simon's relationship, I'm a sucker for found family and I love the way you can very clearly see how much they care for each other. I think it's really cute how Simon was also adopted and raised by a different species when he was younger, and he's doing the same with Nicola, like a generational thing. I'm really happy Nicola decided to go back to the demon world and travel with Simon at the end, and I wish I could see more of them after that.

Overall, totally recommend. It's short, and I wish I could see more, but it was a satisfying read and a endearing cast of characters anyone could enjoy. It's a 10/10 for me for sure. Read it and tell me your thoughts!!
