OTMODCHI: ROKE sightings!

YO! It's been a hot minute! I haven't been on this site for a while!

It's been a while, I've meant to be online more but I just get kinda distracted with other                    junk and life goin' on...!

Recently I've been super interested in graffiti culture and noticing more around my area!

And yeah, I know I know, graffiti ain't exactly legal--but to heck with it!

Graffiti would be hella boring if it was legal!!

Anyways yeah, it's a lot of fun spotting different writers in my area and places I scope out!

As I mentioned before in OTMODCHI: Rad Taggin' Spot! I found this place with tons of graffiti, it was a real gold mine! Either way I came across this name I really liked, something about it stood out, a writer by the alias, "ROKE"

Something about their name just really spoke out to me, all the other graffiti was a bunch of whoever got to it, tons of stuff getting scribbled over all the time, but ROKE's felt decently modest, like they WANTED it to be seen and not sit there for like 2 mintues before gettings tagged over by some punk...

Unfountunately, some punk was bold enough to reach up that high and managed to actually cover his name a little but that's just how graffiti culture is, ya know..?

What a jerk, didn't even use colors that are even legible! If you're gonna cover someone's art, at least do something cool, I can't even read that shidd

Either way, ROKE is my favorite writer mostly because I've only seen his (presumably male?) name around here most and I havn't really seen any other name much.. Tho it seemed like maybe he starts his tag with green then yellow on top.

It would honestly make more logical sense to start with the outline color to get a feel for the shape you want you lettering before filling in the color, props to all writers out there..! You know you want it to look good if you're gonna have the guts to get your name out there!

ROKE seems like they must have been in the middle of writing this one then had to leave it early or something. Hopefully he just ran outta paint or something and didn't get caught up in some trouble. Everyone knows this ain't a secure hobby..!

But just earlier today, I was in an area with signifigntly more graffiti and you'll never guess who I "saw"!!

AYOOOOOOO "ROKE" IS SPOTTED AGAIN IN THE WILD BABEY!!! This ain't the first time I "saw him" outside that graffiti spot, I saw his name somewhere else as a throw up somewhere else but didn't get a photo sadly, I was on the highway and was headed somewhere else..

But Ain't this the coolest???

Here you can see it says:
"SCREW ROKE DARE"

My first impression was "Maybe someone's trying to punk ROKE by saying screw, like screw that guy??" but I noticed the "DARE" then was suggested that it might be THREE WRITERS

THREE? THREE!? 3 Different writers!--and not only that, but they're next to each other! Not fighting over each other, could they be working together, or friends? To think there could be 3 different writers here, "SCREW" "ROKE" and "DARE" How cool is that!? One of these days I wanna make my own tag, I got a concept already going that I'm planning on too!

My concept tag is like "OTTO" but the two T's in the middle have a coupl little lines in the middle making an M so it reads as "OTTO" "OTMTO" like OTTO and OTTOMO, short for OTTOMOTH,

But the main struggle is getting it right to look like it makes sense that's the idea but to be fair, a lot of people don't have any clue what the heck most graffiti says anyways, so I guess that's part of the fun..? I'm mainly biased towards this one here, about..

I also enjoy some of the weirder simple ones that almost look more like a face as throw ups or something, maybe I'll learn to be more loose with it like I am with Otto as my OC...

Honestly the idea of having own tag so closely related to OTTO as my branding reaaaally is playing with fire since I also wanna sell merch kinda stuff too but at the same time...I guess that's just me pushing the boundaries of art...that or I'm stupid, like really stupid. I'm either really stupid or really bold, maybe both, but this is what I want to do.

Hell one of the reasons I love graffiti so much is it's such a RAW form of art. You're will ing to risk going to jail for literally expressing yourself, and these rudies ain't dumb either. They're either skilled enought to throw up their art fast enough without getting caught or smart enought to plan out not getting caught and making sure it's in a good spot that it can't easily get covered up that it'll last. So you KNOW they ain't just drawing weiners or whatever, they're making REAL art.--and with the rise of "AI art" it makes graffiti that much more impactful.

AI ART MAY BE ABLE TO REPRODUCE THINGS THAT LOOK LIKE ART. IT MAY BE ABLE TO FAKE DIGITAL ART, HELL EVEN FAKE TRADITIONAL WITH PRINTERS AND EVEN 3D PRINTERS. NOWHERE NEAR AS GOOD AS HUMANS BUT IT CAN MAKE IT. BUT IF THERE'S ONE THING THAT AI WILL NEVER BE ABLE TO RECREATE IS GRAFFITI.

AI IS A ROBOT "BRAIN" IT DOESN'T PHSYICALLY HAVE THE GUTS TO GO AGAINST SOCIETY TO SPREAD ART WITH HEART. AI WILL NEVER TAKE OVER THE GRAFFITI SCENE. UNTIL I SEE A ROBOT DENY THE RULES SET BY A MAN BY IT'S OWN WILL TO CREATE ART. IT WILL NEVER BE LIKE A HUMAN.

That's what I love about graffiti so much. It's such a raw medium of expressing art. It's someone out there with the guts to still push back against society even with security cameras, karens and fingers to point around every corner, these people still push through to spread their art!

Oh yeah! and before I forget I saw a couple other cool ones too!

 Honerable mention, TKO!

"BUCKLE UP" "AE"

Hahaha! Talk about "Big City Life" am I rite???

"BUCKLE UP GET READY FOR THE RIDE!"

This one is seriously pretty cool! Loving the colors!

Near this one I saw this baby throw up!

Noooo! Not that kinda throw up! Not like a babey! I just meant this one was very small!

Looks like it says "CDN SHLR" I wonder who that could be. Initials? Maybe I'm reading it wrong? Who knows? I'd love to find out someday! With all due respect..!

Lastly for the list we got "SKAB"

Pretty nice! Once again, loving the colors,

Props for location! HOW DID YOU EVEN GET UP THERE, MAN!? HAHAHAHAHA

Bro thinks he's a monkey! "SKAB", you sly mother lover! HAHAHAHAHA! The fact it's BEHIND the highway sign is genius! So cars on the other side driving will see it! Now THAT is a DAMN good spot! Seriously! How did bro get up there!? Scary!

Man oh man! Stuff like that really pumps me up! and I was only heading back from there! I gotta check this area out in depth in my spare time to snap some dedicated pics! This stuff is great!

Though as you may know, places with graffiti tend to be a liiitle sketchier than those without it, and for a reason too, so it's best to stay safe!

Anyways, that's it for this one rudeis! I'll catch y'all next time when I get more pics! I got one more blog to post after this one and it's semi-related but more focussed on me but I urge you to check it out once I post it! Until next time!
