shitty uni experiences with rooms not rooming properly

hi i’m new here but i need to COMPLAINNN rq about my uni room.

moved in september, my LIGHT WAS LITERALLY LEAKING WATER. that’s right, my LIGHT. WAS LEAKING WATER. ONTO MY CARPET. EVERY TIME IT RAINED. SO NOW I HAVW A OMG PEST CONTROL ARE LITERALLY IN MY FLAT WITH THEIR FUCK OFF WALKIE TALKIES MAKING NOISES AS I WRITE THIS SHUT UP. ok so yeah i moved in, standard, light was leaking water when it rained so i reported it. i’m second year i’ve rode this rodeo twice now.

some maintenance people come in my room at fuck ass hours of the morning to remove my light shade and i end up sleeping in my flatmates room (they thought we were dating, she’s a lesbian and i’m a man. match made in heaven for sure dumb bald men) and nothing else. they said something about using scaffolding to go onto the roof to look for the leak, but they need a dry day to do this (as in no rain) for health and safety so they could view the roof for leaks. however, 4 whole weeks passed and nothing was done.

moving on but relevant, my flatmate, loz, is welsh, and had moved in the same day as us, but then the next day was in cardiff as her partner studies there and their freshers is better than ours. she moved in, and when she came back after 2 weeks in wales, she came back to MAGGOTS IN HER BEDROOM. MAGGOTS BRO. so we obviously called security, they came upstairs and basically made fun of her crying her fucking eyes out. a whole situation went down and now she’s suing them for emotional distress (queen) and that’s a whole other thing. they refused to clean the maggots up leaving me and my other flatmate matt to sweep them up and salt the room in hopes to get rid of anything else. it’s still a mystery where the maggots are coming from to this day.

but back to my light, i mentioned to the accomodation people who went to loz room that it had been 4 weeks and no one had done shit about my leaking light. which is now even more dangerous. if you have any common knowledge, you know it can literally get you electrocuted and cause fires, im literally a firefighter so it’s like ticking time bomb. this accomodation lady finally listens to me, i had to chase this again and again after and we had to make a bunch more reports for 6th, 7th, 8th time in a row, about our rooms (hers not only had maggots now, but flies constantly hatching and re-laying eggs which i had to kill with my sliders every night bc she’s terrified) but they basically said to move us to emergency accomodation. they tried to make us move accomodation full stop, but we refused because it’s second year so i’ve picked my flatmates for this year, im with a group of 6 of us and we all get on really well. i’m not moving all my shit out this isn’t my fault.

they’ve finally said they’re gonna put up scaffolding to sort it now, given me and lauren keys to some flat opposite (it looks like a prison!!!) and said that we HAVE to sleep in that flat due to damp in my room and yknow. maggots in loz. but loz has gone back to wales again and i’m not moving my whole ass bed stuff across the village so. i’m staying in here. they better put up this fucking scaffolding today or i’m gonna be pissed. we did have a storm tbh but idc get ur ass up there little boy

btw we have been refunded 4 weeks of rent as a “good will gesture” from uni (i beg to differ i think it’s just illegal to have this bad of a room on sale for the same price as everyone else) but that’s been my experience these past few weeks. all while trying to study for my course that’s upped itself to being extra hard now that it’s second year. hahahahaha XX only me
