Well it’s a new adventure for me 😁

So I’m going away for a few days to Blackpool which is about 3 and half hours away from me. I’ll be leaving my comfort zone to do some work for a radio station, I’ll be using my self taught knowledge for work as it’s setting up a network, website and email services I hope it doesn’t take all of my time as I want to head to the sea front and see the electric trams. 

But to even think that I’ve been given the opportunity and trust by shoutradio to migrate all of there services from email to website and ticketting system to in house on premises hosting I think it’s a great opportunity and will look great on my resume. 

As a lot of you know I am self taught, I first started out with PC hardware building the VDN Network as a project and moving everything out of the cloud from email, blog site, business site to on my own Servers I never knew what I was doing when I first started out and I never knew it would get this far, I just went into it all guns blazing. When I first built the network with crappy old computers to building my own mail server I did have support from someone, that guy is called Edd he’s from Norway we Colab quite a lot on vdnchat.

I never thought the VDN Network would get this far, all I wanted was a storage Server to host files such as music, videos, pictures etc and a few VMs to mess around with.

I got myself into Cybersecurity and did a course on that too.

My old email provider was gmail before I moved to my own self hosted solution, I was getting sick and tired of SPAM coming into my inbox and couldn’t do nothing about it so I decided to learn Linux and built my own Mail Server from scratch which I’ve learnt a lot and I knew it wasn’t as straightforward but I managed to do it. That’s where it all started was moving to my own Mail Server, then I thought what else could I do I decided to build a blog site www.violetdragonsnetwork.co.uk then my own Cloud Sever, self hosted password manager etc.

Once I migrated everything out of the cloud I just closed every social media account, Facebook, twitter.

I’ve never had support from many as people seems to think I was wasting my life away and wasting my money on electric to Power everything, they never supported me, until I went for my qualifications in Networking there was 4 categories and 48 assigns per category and passed every one of them, got the certificates. 

But still don’t get much support from many but hey ho. Parents think I am wasting away doing thi.

Just goes to show that you don’t need to go on courses to get somewhere if you put the effort in and want to do it you will succeed 😄

Something else I will say is that being self independent on yourself and not anyone or companies it is the best feeling ever 😎
