State High Points I have visited so far

It has been almost a year since I have posted. However, a lot of traveling has happened since my last entry. Today, I want to share with you my latest list of state high points in the US, which I visited. Let's get into it.

1. Brasstown Bald, Georgia

I mentioned this spot before. The entrance is 5 US dollars, it includes a free shuttle from the parking lot to the top of the mountain. However, you can walk to the top on a well paved trail, be advised it can be steep, and you may run out of breath if you are not used to walk.

2. Britton Hill, Florida

Britton "Hill" is the natural highest point in Florida. Pretty much any skyscrapper, trees or small multi-floor building is taller than this spot. The park is free though.

3. Cheaha Mountain, Alabama

I was there early this year, it was very chilly, the magic is not on the top of the mountain, but on a natural lookout near this mountain. You can see for miles on a clear day, and there are campsites all over. This was one of my favorite high points. It is 5 US dollars to gain access to the state park.

4. Sassafras Mountain, South Carolina

I recently went there, another short and easy walk from the parking lot to this overlook at the top of the mountain. This mountain is right in between North Carolina and South Carolina borders. South Carolina ended up claiming it as their highest point. It is free.

5. Mt. Mitchell, North Carolina

Mount Mitchell is not only the highest point in North Carolina, but it is also the tallest mountain in the Appalacchias, and also the tallest mountain east of the Mississippi river. I drove through the beautiful Blue Ridge Parkway, and sadly, it was a foggy day when I went there. I can only imagine, on a clear day it most be a spectacular view. It is free.

6. Clingman's Dome, TennesseeĀ

I went to Tennessee during the 4th of July, driving through the beautiful Smoky Mountains National Park. Once there, I got surprised at how many folks came in, from the countryside and the rest of the world, it was a madhouse! It was nothing like in the picture above. It took me at least 3 hours waiting patiently to drive to the top and find a parking spot right at the entrance, which thankfully I did. You have to be patient, and you will be rewarded. It is 5 US dollars for the parking pass for any place in the park.
