bike guy

So I was walking my dog in the woods, like any normal person would. I was wearing my usual alt attire and all of that shit. There were people walking towards me on the trail I was walking on, and I didn't feel like doing that awkward "Hey" as I passed them by, so I turned around.
My dog was sniffing around like crazy, and I got tangled in his leash, so I wasn't aware of this guy about my age on a bike approaching. He was trying to pass through a shallow stream, and there was a guy walking behind him who startled him.
The bike guy seemed very talkative so he was like, "Gosh, everyone is startling me today!"
I looked up and he was several feet away from me, and I was able to turn because there was a split in the path, and I started to, but he made eye contact with me. I turned around and just stared at him for a good couple of seconds, thinking maybe he recognized me or I knew him, but I forgot who he was or something (but then again he sounded like every nerdy pubescent guy ever, so it's completely possible we didn't know each other).
After a few more seconds of just awkward staring, I said, "Hello," thinking that if he knew me he would start a conversation.

BUT YOU KNOW WHAT BIKE GUY SAID???

"Wow, what a great person to meet while I'm alone in the woods..."

LIKE, DID THIS GUY THINK I WAS GONNA KILL HIM OR SOMETHING? HE LOOKED SO SCARED...

Maybe it was because I was all angsty looking and I just stared at him with an expressionless face for a whole minute or something.

But anyway, I just said, "Yeah," and turned around and kept walking. 

And I didn't hear him bike away, so I think that it's possible he just stayed there until I was out of sight.
