Orviah was born and raised in Raven Rock, on the island of Solstheim. Her parents, an older Dunmer couple, worked in the Raven Rock Mine. Her parents were paid very little for their labor, so she learned how to tug on the heartstrings of travellers for some extra coin from an early age. She has an older brother, 20 years* her senior, with whom she is not in contact.

At age 17*, her parents were murdered as a sacrifice to Sheogorath, after which she dedicated herself to Jyggalag in retaliation. She has since spent her days trying to track down the cult responsible for the deaths of her parents.
