So, when I go about adding people on this site, I generally always look for an indicator on age because quite frankly, I do not want to be adding minors. It feels weird for a 21 year old (me) to be adding, essentially, children to my friends list. I did take out the "DNI if under 18" from my About Me, but I truly stand by what I've said thus far.
I feel uncomfortable doing so because of obvious reasons, but also because I have nothing in common with a 13-17 year old. We may like the same TV shows, cinema, or music, but that means literally nothing when you're faced with a maturation gap. I'm also not the biggest fan of minors having access to certain social medias (mostly within the ages of 8-15 being on Instagram, Twitter, TikTok, just to name a few based off of what I've observed in real life). As someone who has been subject to the online realm since the ripe age of 8, I truly believe that this is not the place for a child/minor.
This is just my personal stance on this issue since I do get the occasional friend request from a minor.
Keep it classy. Stay safe.
