"Freedom in capitalist society always continues to be, more or less, what it was in the republics of ancient Greece: Freedom for slave owners."- Lenin
Recently I finished reading "State and Revolution", by Lenin. I read it after reading the Communist Manifesto, and I sincerely recommend it to anyone who is starting to enter the world of communism.
The book was published in August 1917, on the eve of the October Revolution. This book tells how the state will work under socialism, from the overthrow of bourgeois parliamentarism, the dictatorship of the proletariat, the withering away of the state and finally, in the long-awaited communist society, the end of the state. Lenin also describes tasks and duties of the proletariat for the revolution, such as organization and armament (Yes, right, Lenin supported armament). In this book, Lenin cites examples, such as the Paris Commune, and the fight against opportunism by Kautsky, Proudhon and other social democrats and anarchists.
This book is good for those who are starting to study Marxism, I recommend reading it after finishing the Manifesto. This book will explain in great detail the state under socialism, as there is a lot of strawman on the right that under communism the state will take care of your house, your car, your cell phone, the pastry seller, etc., whereas under communism neither state will exist. The only warning for those starting out is that any book about communism is difficult to read, so don't read it in 1 week, it took me about 3 months to read it, so read it calmly and without rushing.
