✩Ranking No Straight Roads boss designs✩

Eve (S rank)

Eve as a character is meant to explore the ideas of symbolism and the abstract which tie perfectly into her trait as an abstract artist. Her full body is used to represent the story of Adam and Eve through not only her name and backstory but with her overall design. Every detail of her is meant to represent this concept down to her signature pose. The snake slithering up a tree to tempt Adam and Eve to bite the forbidden apple is shown through a combination of color and accessories. A green lush cloak provides the imagery of the tree while her hair that wraps down her leg and into a sculpted heel is meant to represent the snake. It is as if her very being as an artist is fully on display as her body serves as a work of living art. There is much more to be said about her design which becomes deeper as aspects of her character and lore are worked into it but the design truly does speaks for itself even without the added knowledge of her story.

Sayu (S Rank)

Looking at the concept art for her- its clear that her design was meant to represent the epitome of a cute mermaid. Her multiple forms allow her to capture the idea three-fold along with letting the fourth form represent the neon lights often found within digital concerts. The bio-luminescence against her darker skin reflect the visual of glow sticks in a dark venue which is a sight that's common for a hologram concert. The constant change of her look throughout the fight lean into the theme of her being a digital creation that is being improved upon with every phase of the fight. Sayu is truly representative of a cute mermaid as well as a virtual idol with multiple designs ready to go when her creators see fit to use them.

DK West (A Rank)

DK West has a rather large presence in the life of one of the protagonists in the game which plays into his large stature. His closed eyes and green skin lean into the aspect of him being a rather chilled-out person. Seeing as his inspiration for his character is rooted in Malaysian culture there are elements to him that pay homage to that such as his name, his music style, and even the henna tattoos on his arms. Loose fitting clothes with an earthy tone help give a relaxed vibe to his overall design which match perfectly to his personality.

Yinu (A rank)

Yinu ties to a classically trained musician with an affinity for nature is the core concept of her design. Given that she is a young prodigy- she's depicted as small with a cute flair to her. The tie-in to nature is what gives a classic design more life. The additions of plant motifs into her hair and clothes along with pops of color allow Yinu to retain the elegance of a pianist as well as keep her own personal flair. Instead of only accessories to show her alignment with nature, the very idea is woven into her hair, face, and clothes which makes that element as apparent as her element of a refined classical musician. An overall solid design that shows great balance.

DJ Subatomic Supernova (B rank)

The overall design is reminiscent of a classic hip-hop DJ. His wide shoulders emphasize the signature silhouette of a DJ leaning over his equipment as well as contrast with his scrawnier lower body. The negative space of his head against the white lining of his hoodie provides an eye-catching element to his orbital head. This ties into his space theme nicely along with his characteristic of being an arrogant larger-than-the-universe guy. A gravitating and humorous design makes a good fit as the first boss of the game.

Tatiana (B rank)

Her design has deeper meanings upon discovering more about her as the game progress but since that has spoilers attached- I wont mention it outright. Tatiana is first introduced as the wise and collected leader of the antagonists that you face throughout the game. She fundamentally represents a pillar of strength and order as the head of the NSR ,the organization you fight against as the protagonists, and her time serving as such as such has made her into a hardened individual. Her grey skin with cracks give homage to the idea of being "made of stone" which play into idea of being a hardened leader. The white and black of her outfit represent the contrast of two ideas. Seeing as the idea of order and chaos is a reoccurring theme in her dialogue- her contrasting robes serve as a metaphor of her ideals. Overall, her design is not overly intricute which plays well into her personality of being a stern and blunt individual-nothing too flashy yet another well-balanced design.

1010 (C rank)

The idea of a generic boy band is the driving force behind this design and it shows through the recycled body frame with each of the band memebers. The only difference being the colors of their lights along with their hair is meant to represent the distinctness of each member which is a trait that many boy bands capitalize on to provide more marketability for their younger audiences. The design is meant to represent a manufactuted apperance and thus does not offer any other unique elements to further distinguish its members. Not the most complex and deep design but it serves its purpose well enough.
