song writing..

hey there, i've recently been wanting to try out poetry/writing. but mainly on poetry. i think it'll help with my ability to be able to write songs, which i want to do in the future! does anyone have any advice for tricks to help out? or like maybe some concepts? after studying some bands and the meanings behind their songs, i've noticed that songs don't just have to be about the way you feel and things that have happened in the past. i know they can also be stories you have created or thought of...like gerard way! mcr and ptv have had big influences on me...i feel guilty on asking though. idk why xD. anywayz. i like have to have some sort of inspo or something in mind so I can turn it into something bigger or greater. plz and thanx!!! o.0
