the fairies

i guess i always liked the fairies

i loved their mischief

and themes

and their very pretty wings

i read the books

i studied the movies

i found the circles of mushrooms in the woods

i built them houses

and id be damned if i didnt have at least have my own pair of wings

they existed somewhere between angels and demons

a mixture of vice and virtue

perhaps thats why they chose bugs over birds or bats

rather than heaven or hell 

they chose the garden

the forest

the earth

as their home

they love the world

they love the people

and their friends

and whatever comes tomorrow

i guess thats why i always liked the fairies
