Entry about the Constitution Act of 1982:

ok so today in social studies class (my favorite) we were talking about the constitution of 1982 !! it was super cool because like this document basically shows how Canada became independent. cuz the constitution was pretty much made up by the brits , so then Canada made their own !!! we were able to change and edit it, PLUS, the recognized Indigenous rights in it !! oh yeah forgot to mention that the charter of rights and freedoms was introduced here too (SUPER IMPORTANT !!!!) anywayz,, in section 35 of that act, it recognizes Indigenous land rights, Indigenous rights, and it states that the government has to consult with Indigenous people when they make decisions about their lands or rights !! so tldr; the Constitution act is super important because it made Canada independent, AND it actually acknowledges Indigenous people !! i think that’s awesome, because we have been fighting for our rights for so long,, its so lame that it took so long for them to actually make it official ://
