Indian Act Entry

Sooo in school i was learning abt the Indian Act in school we learnt abt how first nations people had "indian status" which meant that the goverment granted status to whoever they thought counted as indigenous. Also using  indian to refer to first nations people  is a totally outdated phrase that's still used today btw (VERY LAME !! ) We also learnt abt  the residential schools and how the act created reserves i got curious so i started researching abt it at home and there is soo much stuff that wasnt talked abt in school! Like it denied women who were married to non indigenous men  status that's so ridiculous!!! and if indigenous kids went to university they also lost their status that's so unfair. Like it forbade first nations people from discussing anything political like people who were first nations couldn't even vote until 1960!!
