Why do people claim to be goth when they don’t even listen to the music?

It really confuses me like how are you goth when you don’t listen to the music or the style or the beliefs of the fucking culture and this goes for abt subculture/ style sorry this is random it confuses me so much (not aimed just something that pisses me off)
