The Following is a Personal Progress Log for the designing, brain-storming, archiving, & world building for my Youtube Channel's mascots.
Sep.23rd:
Yeah ok I totally forgot to make this yesterday but now I'm doing it rn so yeah. I was fairly busy this week so I didn't have much time to actually draw however, I've done most of, if not all, of the steps I would of needed to complete in order to make the actual character sheets. So without further ado;
The World as they know it:
I've actually created this world loooong before I even had the idea for making this whole mascot thing. It was apart of one of my mind's "quick pulp stories" as I like to call them, little stories my head makes that I have no real intention of publishing or sharing with anyone else; i.e. stories by me, for me, and only me. However I've decided to use this world in particular as compared to the other worlds I've made in my quick pulp stories is because I believe this world has a lot of potential in terms of lore, scenery, symbolism & etc. It's also the first world I've made where everything looks "different". The world itself is primarily based around Ancient Egypt but more specifically it's ruins, Taking heavy inspiration with many art pieces of the "Pomo Faux Ruins" & "Neoclassical Pomo" aesthetic, along with other aesthetics of the mid to late 20th & very early 21st Century AD that I will list right now
Main Aesthetics:
- PoMo Faux Ruins
- NeoClassical PoMo
- Gay(as in happy) Nineties Revival
- Googie Kitsch
- Y2K Aesthetic
- Vectorheart
- Cassette Futurism
- Soft Colonial Wanderlust
- Pulp Fantasy
- Airbrush Surrealism
- Frasurbane/Utopian Scholastic
If you cannot see by now, This world is where many ideas come in contact with each other. Perhaps at another time I'll write about the Philosophy about this world, but I haven't even touched on my Mascots in this Mascot Progress Log! Ergo;
My 2 Mascots:
So I have 2 Mascots; Zizi Chapmani & Zarie Bucheli. They are Half-Sisters (Same Father, Different Mother) who share an apartment inside one of the Giza Pyramids. Zizi is the one on my Profile Picture, However it was never intended for that to be her official look, consider it as concept art for the overall art style.
Name Meanings:
Zizi Chapmani; Zizi = "Pledged to God" (Romanian/African Origin); Chapmani = Equus Quagga Chapmani (i.e. The Scientific Name for "Chapman's Zebra")
Zarie Bucheli; Zarie = "Help of God" (Hebrew Origin); Bucheli = Misspelling of "Bruchellii" (Scientific Name of the Plains Zebra i.e. Equus Quagga Bruchellii)
Personalities:
A more thorough depiction of their personalities in worded form will be made next time I update this blog (Sep. 29th~ish), but for the meantime here are some buzzwords that I have written down to give you an idea on they kind of people my Mascots are;
Zizi:
- Happy-go-Lucky
- Energetic
- Fun
- Happily Contempt
- Street Smart
- Traditional
- Insomniac
- Mostly Calm
- No-Nonsense
- Book Smart
Oct. 7th-15th:
Well, I guess I should just officially move when I update this blog to Saturdays instead of Fridays. So unfortunately as far as actual drawings to show you guys I don't have any for one reason and or another, HOWEVER I can share more about my mascots' personalities/history & some rough ideas on their standard outfits So:
Personal History: (SOME DETAILS SUBJECT TO CHANGE)
Zizi Chapmani:
Biologically: the oldest of the two, Mentally: definitely the youngest. Born and raised in Southern Africa, Specifically around the Matabeleland & Gasaland territories (Modern day Zimbabwe & Mozambique), She has always been the adventurous tom-boyish type, possible traits she inherited from her father. She's not necessarily an "extrovert" or a "talkative person" in general per se, however if she has a goal in mind, she'll charge through metaphorically and sometimes even actually charge through. Even while growing up going on dangerous adventures all over the southern half of Africa and even when she went to the New World, Her "Gung-Ho" "Guns Blazing" attitude and "tactics" somehow were really what saved the day on her adventures. She never finished school due to her constantly moving nature, but due to all of her adventuring she did as a kid, she has learned a plethora of useful information both big and small. As an Young Adult now, Zizi has seen all she has wanted from the southern western part of the world, and has grown a curiosity for the northern half of Africa and the rest of the world. After finding out from her mother that she has a younger half-sister living in the grand lands of Egypt... well I'll stop there for now.
Zarie Bucheli:
Elegant, Patient, & Well rested are NOT words that should be used to describe Zarie Bucheli. Born in Egypt, Raised in Odaceria & Frankokratia (Modern Italy & Greece), Zarie was a timid and shy girl growing up due to her and her mother constantly moving for one reason or another. In her elementary school days, there were times where she would have to move to a different school once a week. Despite this, Zarie's mother made sure that she wouldn't be academically behind. As the changing of schools became less and less frequent, Zarie finds herself at the top of her classes academically and later socially. By the time she reached sophomore year of high school, She has grown from a meek and shy little girl to a more self confident, classy, & intelligent young lady. Due to her sudden change of social status, she started to dress more professional, not to show off but to improve her own confidence in herself. On the flip side, due to her conditions growing up and constantly moving from one place from another has made her grown less and less patient and makes her be "blunt" when dealing with some issues. Despite her being a "librarian girl" archetype, she is very athletic, possible traits inherited from her father, although she had zero interest in sports. When she graduated to high school, Zarie and her cousin moved to Xin Mang (Modern China) for university. Due to reason that I plan to explain later, She was unable to finish university so she decides to move back to her place of birth back in Egypt...
Outfit Ideas:
Zarie:
Zarie was the easiest for me when it comes to what her main outfit would be. Being a Traditional, Formal, yet blunt and no-nonsense librarian type of girl, I kinda had an idea already what she would be wearing:
- Head: Plastic Flower Headband (Borage Flower)
- Eyes: Prescription Glasses (Bold Half Frame)
- Neck: Small Plastic & String Scapular
- Jacket: Formal Suit & Tie (Striped, Primarily White)
- Hands: Dress Gloves (Black)
- Pants: Striped Plaid Skirt (Above Knee)
- Socks: Black Athletic Socks (Knee High)
- Shoes: Closed-Toed Mid Heels Dress Shoes (Black)
Despite being the primary face of my Channel, I had a more difficult time considering what her primary outfit would be. A Well-Traveled, Street Smart, Happy-go-Lucky, Lightning in a bottle, Gung-Ho, Type of Girl, I had to take into consideration both her personality and her childhood and this is my what I've thought up of so far:
- Neck: Metal Cross Necklass, Wooden Rosary, None
- Shirt: Dashiki or Dashiki-like T-Shirt (Striped, Primarily Black)
- Jacket: Light Denim Short Sleeve Jacket (White), None
- Hands: Beaded Bracelet Set (Left Arm)
- Pants: Khaki Work Shorts (Below Knee)
- Socks: Loose Socks (Late 90's Style) (Either Black or White, Maybe even both who knows)
- Shoes: Converse-Style Shoes, 70's Laced Combat Boots (Black)
I DIDN'T SAVE THE LAST TIME SO LIKE HALF OF THE STUFF I WROTE ON THE 7th JUST GOT DELETED AND I DIDN'T WANT TO TYPE IT ALL AGAIN SO I JUST TOOK A BREAK UP UNTIL NOW
Apr. 20th:
So hey, I know it's been a while since I've updated this, I just want to formally announce that I am currently working on a VERY big and ambitious project right now that is planned to be ready at the end of this year (2024 A.D.), I will be working on this project AND work on my mascots simultaneously for both will use the same (or at least very similar) artstyle(s). For the record: Currently, I do not plan on having these two separate projects be apart of the "same universe", I'm not planning on making a "DreamkasTV cinematic universe"... yet... I will share more about this project later once I have finished the Pre-Production phase.
STILL IN WORK IN PROGRESS LOL
