TOP TEN FAVORITE MOVIES (WITH EXPLANATIONS.)

1. Trainspotting (1996):

When I was about 12 or so I came across a video from this movie. In my head I though it looked like the coolest fucking thing on earth. I was right, seeing this at such a young age truly ruined me. I wanted to do heroin and be just like the main characters. That didn't come true, but I'm young I can still do heroin. I also make all my potential partners watch this, each of them absolutely hated it. And that fucking soundtrack man.

2. Winter Light (1963):

This is what really got me into movies in the first place. I watched it late at night, age 13 I think? I latched right on to the whole Ingmar Bergman suicide I hate god mentality. Genuinely the best movie experience in my life right here. That night I swore to watch whatever movie I could. And 7 years later I am still insufferable.

3. Mulholland Drive (2001):

As a crazy person I am very into David Lynch. As a Lesbian I am also REALLY into this movie. Picked it up years ago and I am confident I have seen this over 10 times. Each time I slowly make sense of it, but I have a long way to go. I used to have a notebook where I'd write down every single detail. It is without a doubt my favorite movie to show to people, the reactions are pure gold. Oddly not his weirdest movie, that would probably be Inland Empire. That does not make my top ten sadly, but I do love it!

4. Come and See (1985):

This one has picked up some popularity lately. Which is great I think everyone needs to share the trauma. This was horrific to endure, soul crushing, and ruined my life for a week. This was when I was 16 I think. Not an exaggeration, I was launched head first into a mini depression. Last year my friend wanted to watch it again with me. So I took my ex along for the ride. She didn't say a word, but instead looked like someone murdered a dog right in front of her. Great time guys!

5. A Clockwork Orange (1971):

So I had this schizophrenic friend from Texas when I was around 12. Online of course, I could not socialize beyond a computer at that point. She claimed that it "totally changes your brain man." Okay so I took the bait, I was a bit scared due to my age admittedly. I was battling OCD at the time and wondered if this would make me into a serial killer. It unfortunately did not, but I got one of my favorite movies out of it. I forgot her name cause she scared the fuck outta me, but definitely gave me some good music recommendations

6. Apocalypse Now (1979):

I am a sucker for a good war movie, as you can tell by number four. I took my sweet time getting to this cause it was too long or something. Bullshit on my end, this movie is such a pandoras box. Seriously read up on the production, it's like a constant slog of human rights violations. I have a poster of it above my TV in my room. So everyday I can wake up and thank Martin Sheen. Thank you for giving us Charlie, please take him back already.

7. The Silence of the Lambs (1991):

My parents had this on VHS and I remember being totally freaked out by the cover. They always told me to put it away, but let out it was a great movie nonetheless. My parents were the type to watch whatever in front of me. I had a very visceral reaction to the autopsy scene, pausing it so I didn't spew out whatever my fat ass was eating at the time. I also developed a massive crush on Jodie Foster, and to this day she is my ideal woman. I had a very lovely night watching this with a girl I dug at the time.

8. The Piano Teacher (2001):

I love abnormal sex movies. And books! Psychosexual is one of my favorite genres, the more bizarre the better. This movie will always stick in my head, and explaining the plot really doesn't make me sound great. Not that I can do it any justice. I oddly relate to the main character, if you've seen this you're judging me aren't you?

9. Maurice (1987):

This should be higher on the list, but I have seen too much! This is a glacially slow homosexual period drama, my speciality. I should make a queer movie list. Based off quite the book I'll admit. What it doesn't show us makes it real special. The setting really seals the deal, it's painfully British. I don't wanna be a guy, but if I was I'd wanna be a British twink. Jarvis Cocker type ya know? Call Me By Your Name may have peach fucking, but this has a young Hugh Grant.

10. Taxi Driver (1976):

I really hated the Joker cause I felt like it ripped this off too much. Then I watched The King of Comedy, which the Joker REALLY RIPS OFF. Ashes to ashes. This is a classic. The ultimate red flag, but I really do not care about that. It's popular for a fucking reason. Everything about it is perfect and I will accept no less. I saw this at a tender age and made it my whole personality. This is why no one would talk to me in high school.
