Smooth Turtle Leech (Placobdella Parasiticia)

A Smooth Turtle Leech found during a macro-invertebrate study of a nearby creek to determine the creeks overall health (not looking great :( )

Turtle Leeches are fairly common and feed on freshwater turtles,

though they feed on turtle blood they also spend a good majority of their lives attached to the turtles themselves and have some air tolerance (a helpful skill when attached to an reptile which may frequently spend time out of the water)

They are hermaphroditical and tend to be 1-3 inches long :)
