Cats...

In the stillness of the night, they roam,

Silent shadows, far from home.

Their eyes, like orbs of liquid night,

Reflect a world devoid of light.

Once, they purred in warmth and grace,

Now they haunt this desolate place.

Abandoned souls, no love to mend,

 In solitude, their lives descend.

Whiskers twitch with memories lost,

Of gentle hands, of tempest-tossed.

In empty alleys, they seek a friend,

A fleeting touch, a love to mend.

But in this world so cold and stark,

The feline hearts are left to mark,

The ache of longing, a bitter tear,

For love and home, now disappeared.

So let us pause, our hearts to weigh,

The price they pay for each new day.

For cats abandoned, hearts turned blue,

In their sad eyes, we find the truth.
