Hello  (=ↀωↀ=) !

Welcome to the blog! I'll be posting the type of content I mentioned on my profile soon, but here's a short introduction to myself (not because this was an assignment no shhh) so you can get to understand me better! But if you're just here for the analysis stuff then you can just skip this, i'll be uploading something more like that VERY soon  ( =ω= ) 

So, My name is Olivia, and I am an art student studying in Finland! I was born and raised in NYC, but I know a bit about Finnish culture from my wonderful mother who is from here :) I've been making/studying art for pretty much all of my life, so I've come to value analyzing and critiquing all forms of art, and would love to eventually start creating my own projects as a professional! Mainly game design and development though hehe, although I really love any kind of interactive media.

Well...what else? All of my hobbies and interests are in my profile, and I think from the entire aesthetic I've gone for it's very clear that I have a soft spot for older technology/internet (not "old" necessarily, mostly just nostalgia for the early/mid 2000's and some things from the late 90's, maybe retro is the term?) Not to be one of those people, newer technology and internet culture isn't all bad, but something about  CRT monitors and early social media hits differently!

Media Observation

I am pretty much constantly consuming some type of media. I watch youtube videos in the morning while getting ready, I listen to music on my commute, I always have some video or audio playing in the background, and spend most of my free time playing video games or watching youtube. 

So, how do I consume media? Digitally or auditorily. 

Where? Everywhere. 

When? All the time.  (=;ェ;=) 

I'm not so sure what effect this has on me, since I don't have a point of reference to when I haven't been like this. In some ways I believe this has helped me develop my creativity, since I'm constantly seeing and listening to art. It has given me a large mental bank of ideas, and listening to music can help me when it comes to creative projects. 

I'm sure, however, it has also hurt me in some ways, as my attention span can be very small when it comes to topics I am not interested in, and especially during the pandemic my ability to communicate my ideas verbally became very weak. Also, I would often use digital media for escapism, and I imagine this stunted my emotional intelligence :,)
