The Accurate Google Experience™™™™™™™
One thing which has annoyed me over the last few months when using https://oldgoogle.neocities.org/2009/ is how it isn't accurate at all.
It does the search engine part of it well, but it's missing alot of features on the homepage, which therefore makes it feel less real.
So, after dealing with this for a while, I decided to start work on a replacement for oldgoogle which is more accurate. What's implemented? Read on (Or just look at the screenshots)
1. Doodles:
These are the changes of the logo on the site to mark special occasions, such as Christmas, Halloween etc. Over 100 of these are now implemented across the year
2. Info messages:
Another regular thing on the homepage; they normally promoted new products or updates.
*The doodles and messages update/change in real time, based off of the current date
3. 2007 and 2009 versions:
Self explanatory (If there's enough interest might implement 2010/2012 versions too)
4. "Logged in" system:
5. Mobile mode:
Gives you an accurate mobile homepage (Based off 2009 version)
(Wish I had an old iPhone to take this screenshot with but I don't so please ignore the small image)
6. Dark mode ( ;) )
...Yes it's actually just another doodle (This time for some enviroment protest) but it does change the screen to black so AUTOMATICALLY it's a Dark Mode
Overall IMO this makes it all feel much more nostalgic and "alive" to me then regular old google, a welcome change especially if you set old google to be your browser homepage.
If you're interested in this then let me know but I don't know if I'll release this yet, things still need to be polished.
