the leap from gt2 to 3 graphics is pretty insane, but yeah i used to play gt4 a lot on ps2 but that old thing is now gone sadly. i'm trying to figure out the emulator slowdowns idk why it keeps doin that even though i have enough power and ram capacity to run the game. i haven't tried gt7 yet but from the looks of it they really brought back all the features and cars that made gran turismo such a good game.

also, gran turismo soundtracks are masterpieces...

pcsx2 can be a hit or miss ig >~< i have been running it on real hardware though so idk about any optimizations u can do. i got gt2 too and the jump to gt3 is pretty insane, although i saw an old forum post where this guy was like "it's just gt2 but controls worse" (lol?!?)

gt7 looks kewl but im a bit peeved at the online requirements in it >:( i guess there are "reasons" but its silly i think.

i might move on to gt5 once i get far enough in the other two, i found a copy of gt5 at the thrift store for $5 so that's kewl :3 i was looking for gt6 too but some pple online say it suckz compared to gt5 ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

yeah, pcsx2's been a hit and a miss for me. sometimes it runs really well, sometimes it lags a lot (my pcsx2 REALLY hates Auto Modellista for some reason) and sometimes it completely corrupted some games like SF:AR. found a few guides on optimisation but im too tired rn to do it...

also, yeah. apparently GT7 is online only which sucks, ik GT Sport had an offline mode so that's a pretty big miss on GT7 for me too. But man...the JGTC cars and the customisation support look so good... i like GT Sport, but they really dumbed the game down when customisation options and JGTC cars were removed from the game, some cars from the previous game also took too long to add like the AE86, the 22B and etc (still remember when people took the JZA70 Supra and dressed it up as an AE86 with the livery editor) but hey the updates are free so..i guess that's fine :D i want to get my hands on a PS4 copy of GT7...if only i had more storage

GT5 is pretty good in general, it has crap tons of cars but most of them were recycled from 4 and sometimes look out of place with the HD cars (tip: you can spot a GT4 car just by going to interior view; its just plain black). the game was quite buggy and slow, when i was playing it back then even vehicle thumbnails took quite a long time load.

as for GT6...i never played GT6, i only had GT5 on the PS3 back then. apparently people say its almost the same as GT5 but with some added features and bug fixes, maybe they rushed development because GT6 came out a month after the PS4? idk i have no clue. but then there are also some people who say GT Sport is worse than GT6 or GT5 is worse than GT6 or GT6 is worse than 5 etc etc...i guess it just depends on preference

despite all the GT2 ive played i dont know what a car's transmission does

by paragon; ; Report

ah, simple answer dude.

the transmission is a essentially what makes your car move, it transfers engine power to the wheels that it's being driven to. for example, a front wheel drive car will have the power being transferred to the front wheels and a rear wheel driver car will have the power being transferred to the rear, all wheel drive works differently where power is transferred to all four wheels when needed, 'nother thing is that manual cars require the clutch to change gears and an automatic does not rely on a clutch to change gears, rather using torque converters or hydraulics...

but in concept and how i could describe it, it's as simple as that. :D
