AUs, especially when AU's interact...are so scary and confusing. I don't hate AU's automatically but. . .it's like unwritten rules (unless the AU does in fact have a wiki). But even then it still feels like unwritten rules and I hate those.
First interaction with AU's were when I was watching an Undertale comic and Papyrus from a different AU came in and his shading was different. Obviously his personality too but. I couldn't wrap my head around it. It was so confusing for my 12 year-old brain to comprehend who was who and why.
Now I don't really mind when someone sticks to an AU and doesn't start intersecting them. Also don't have a favorite because I don't know too many of them.
ooh yeah, i especially agree in regards to the undertale fandom... for me aus are really fun to make but i try to focus on the overall lore/circumstances of the au itself before focusing on the characters so that i know how to make the characters react/respond to the different circumstances

I like AUs! It's fun seeing characters in different situations/worlds than in canon.
yeah!! its really fun coming up with "what if x did y instead" sorta stuff
