I LOVE CEMETERY MARY and i'm really bored so its time for cemetery mary propaganda

cemetery mary is a free visual novel available on steam and itch.io. it's about a girl named mary anta, who lives in a town where people have been dying due to a serial killer on the loose. her parents have went missing as well, like they've disappeared without a trace. she gets contacted by a mysterious number assuring her that her parents are safe although the mysterious number refuses to divulge more information to her. that's the simple premise of the game, but the storyline gets much deeper than that. there are 3 routes you can follow, each route related to the 3 main characters you can interact with. each route has their own good and bad ending, and there's also a separate, true ending!

sure, mary looks a little creepy there, a lot of people regard her as creepy at first glance, but she's actually a really sweet and kind girl. she's far from morbid! she loves sweet things and plushes and she's very shy but friendly, and she likes to attend funerals even if she doesn't know the deceased, because she sees funerals as expressions of love for the ones who died and she appreciates funerals.

(please note, mary and all the characters in the VN are adults <3)

this is twyla sophio! she's, quite literally, the incarnation of the meme "i support women's rights and also women's wrongs." she goes to any, and i mean any lengths to get what she wants. she's willing to commit crimes! she doesn't have much care or regard for other people and she's self centered. personally? i love her very much even though she's just a tad bit, just a LITTLE BIT toxic. currently she's obsessed with trying to catch the serial killer in their city (the blackwood butcher) and if you decide to go down her route, mary will be helping her with her investigations.

this here is crowven! your resident angry emo boy (hot topic? no, they shop at cold point... yes they literally shop at a place called cold point, i think mary goes shopping there at twyla's route). he's mary's cousin. they aren't blood related, but their families are very close to one another so they regard each other as family. after rumors of a murderer in blackwood city started spreading around, mary's parents sent her to live with crowven and his parents. but then, both of their parents either died (in crowven's case) or disappeared (in mary's case), so they only have each other.

crowven and mary fight often because of crowven's angry and distant personality, but there are times when he shows that he does care for mary. his route mainly involves trying to get along with him and break down the walls built between mary and crowven, and meeting his... unique friends and trying to get along with them too.

crowven and twlya also have some beef with each other... you can learn more about that in the true ending :3

lastly, this is reginald tetra. he's mysterious, he has no friends, and he likes mary quite a lot. :3 a lot of people ship reginald x mary although i'm more of a twyla x mary person myself (i don't care what anyone thinks :3). there's not much about reginald that i can say without verging on spoilers territory, but he's quite an interesting character! his route involves hanging out with him and getting close to him, as all routes do, except this route is far from normal as you start to learn that there's more to reginald than meets the eye, and also mary starts getting haunted by visions!

i have a lot of theories about this character... hehe <3

anyway, that's it for my infodump about cemetery mary! i really love explaining my interests and it would be cool if someone did find this post and got into the game because of it. if you do end up checking out the game, message me!!

(the photos of reginald, twyla, and crowven that i posted here were all screenshots that i took while playing the game! i... totally do not have 24+ hours of playtime for the game. nope, not at all.)
