my old typing quirk

when i was 13 i didn’t know there was a word for this weird typing style. i never read past two pages of homestuck either, so i just thought i’m kinda weird. it’s nice to see it these days and see people have names for it. i don’t think it’s cringe, it’s just fun.

1 |_|$3|) +0 \/\/41+3 |_1|<3 +|-|$.

it takes a long time. but it’s harmless, right?

i know there’s a lot of talk of dyslexia, even back then, but provide the translation and everything should be okay! i wrote ‘i used to write like this.’

i would even write that way on paper. i didn’t know it was a somewhat common ND thing. it makes me kinda happy to think about how i used to use it. wouldn’t use it for much nowdays but demonstration.

i think they’re all unique. haven’t seen anyone else type the way i used to. i just love it so much. this string of symbols used to be My typing quirk, and there are many similar ones but they’re all special. it’s lovely. we can all make language our own.

edit: there is no link between typing quirks and being ND, people often use that as an excuse to be ableist toward dyslexics and those who need screen readers to not provide translations. as a kid i was really into ‘secret languages’ and started out of my typing quirk based on the ones i envisioned (english with new letters). i use ND because i notice it’s common for ND people to have them, not because they are linked. an NT can use typing quirks.
